Gen 3 1994 camry

Hello I am a new member to this forum and I have been searching for a while as to what mods can be made to my crappy 2.2 4 cylinder le camry...

One of the major mods I want to do is a motor swap....

If I do a motor swap will it be possible to keep the old tranny or have to purchase a new tranny to go with the motor...

thanx in advance...

New member...

welcome to the nation....use the search tool you'll find all of the infor mation you need on previous tthreads. Word of advice though.....don't do a swap unless you have about $6 grand laying around and nothing to do with it

You'll most likely need the motor, tranny, ECU, and wiring harness for the new motor.

Depends on which motor.... the 3sge you can use the 5sfe tranny, but for the 6 cylinders, you need a diff tranny if you can get a 5 speed but that just depends on how much money you want/have to spend.

Why would you want a 3sge? Thats a worse motor than the 5s-fe.

The motor you'd want to swap would be the 3s-gte. Which in that case you would need a E-153 tranny. You'd also need a new ecu, etc.

The other option would be the 1mz-fe. Which you'd also have to switch ecu, etc.

Wish noobs would make their titles of their posts a little more "SPECIFIC" than just the model of car that they have...

Eh. A 5s-fe can be pretty frustrating to turbo. All 3 routes all have their frustrations and aren't cheap at all.

heres an idea - buy a new car and stop pretending its a racecar - go to a performance shop and see what they tell you
