Gen 3.5 side moldind removal

I've noticed some people cars in their signitures (woody and prnc_chrmng ) don't have any of the side molding. I've only seen this on Gen 3 cars. how hard is it to get that look on a Gen 3.5. I know that teh doors indent in where they are, so I'm guessing major sheetmetal surgery is required?

When I say "bodyman" I really mean my friend who spend all their time painting and modifing their ford explorers...so there is no shop involved. I'll have to find out if they've done anything like this though, cause I don't want my car to be teh first one tehy do it to.
