3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
My current walmart battery that my dad bought for my camry a couple years ago when he was driving it is starting to die. Basically, when I start up the car the stereo sounds crappy (the base is all messed up) and I have to wait for the car to "warm up" (i'm guessing I'm waiting for the alternator to kick in or something) before the stereo starts to perform as good as it should...
Also, the + and - pins are all worn out, so I'm guessing it's time to replace my battery.
I think my spending limit should be no more than $100 (since they sell batteries for $20 nowadays), unless there's a really good reason to spend more...
So, can anybody give me some advice on buying a battery?
I've done some reading on the internet and they say that the battery has to conform with your engine's cranking amps specifications in your climate (I live in Seattle) and it should have a lot of reserve capacity or something... Does anybody know what are the cranking amps for 93 camry?
if u have a bigger sound system go w/ about 700 CCA if not the standard is around 550CCA, i would suggest about a 575-625 CCA battery available at any local auto store probably for about $60-70 tops, the bigger ones around 80-90 i paid
ur payin for the name w/optima....not worth it in my book, u can get a stronger, more powerful battery w/a better warranty for less money, they're out there, i have one. forget wut kind, but about $15-20 cheaper for an overall better battery......of course ther are certain features it cant offer like the optimas durability, but i dont plan on doing hardcore off roading or professional racing any time soon
Optimas are great, but I've got to tell you...
Buy anything that is charged and stays charged!
