dave, I know your list, as you've showed me it before. I'm not sure if you posted it for my purposes or for other's.

my issue largely is not knowing which tranny would benefit me more. I know I won't be putting down too much power for the S54 and the gearing would be far more friendly to my power goals but I'm not sure if the E153 would be that unfriendly.

the more I think about it, the more the S54 seems like a better option...

is it just rumor or is it true that the celica s54's have shorter gearing than the camry's?

i posted that for the noobs...

e153 should be fine for you, even at low power...
BUT you will need to swap out axles, hubs, and brakes.

i think the celica tranny is the exact same ... but i could be wrong.

the axles hubs and brakes are fine.

will the calipers need to be changed or just the rotors? (I don't know if there's a difference in rotor size or hub dimension that requires the different rotor?)

I'm going to start collecting parts soon for my m/t swap and just need to really figure out which tranny I need to get before I start buying a clutch or flywheel or anything.

I think I'm going to start with buying the speed-source parts, then the tranny and a tranny rebuild kit and likely the misc pieces I'll need like the new console, a new shift knob and shift boot, and so on.

thanks for the help once again, dave. I'll probably talk to you on AIM tonight about it if you're on.

FYI...

3s-gte e153 = 3.23 / 1.913 / 1.258 / 0.918 / 0.731 / 4.285
1mz-fe e153 = 3.538 / 2.045 / 1.333 / 0.972 / 0.731 / 3.933

Can someone post the s54 gear and differential ratio?

so it'd be wise to assume that the 3sgte e153 would be best for my application from gauging the gearing ratios (much tighter).

will the s54 slave cylinder and all work with the e153 or will I need to get a different size one?
