Question 93 Camry LE 190K AutoTranny Slips Out of Gear

Greetings-

I have a 93 Camry LE with 190k miles.

The automatic transmission began slipping out of forward gears when I took my foot off the gas pedal. That was back when I could get it to move at all.

We cannot drive it now. I can sometimes get it into reverse - even fewer times get it to move forward in D1 (low gear).

Transmission fluid is fine and fresh.

Any ideas on this?

Hoping for similar experiences....and painless fixes....

Any help is appreciated.

I think your tranny is almost dead. I had my manual transmission leak until all the gear oil was gone. I never noticed the leak but I noticed the first time the tranny slipped out of gear. Had to replace it. This maybe your cheapest option unless I am wrong and its a small thing. Your should take it to a mechanic or shop you trust (free estimates if you can) and see what the problem is. If they have to take the tranny out for anything I say go to a salvage yard and get a good used one (with warranty) and have it installed.
