4th Generation How to program keyless remote for 98 camry LE?

Hello everyone, this is my first post and I hope I can get some help. I have searched through the forum but I still did not get the answer.

I recently purchased a 98 Camry LE and the owner did not gave me the remote. So, I called the dealer and they told me that I had a factory installed RS3000. I went ahead and bought the remote from the dealer not knowing that the cost ($142.86) did not include the programing. When the dealer told me that they will charge me $75 for programming the remote, I felt cheated and said NO. I was a little naive to think that the cost did not involved programming(the dealer did not mention the programming when they "special" ordered the parts for me).The dealer told me that the remote that I bought part# 89742-AA010 should work. I got the remote with no programming instructions..........

Ok, I went back and googled the internet and found the instructions for a 98 camry.I followed the instruction and opened up the mirror control switch to jump the black/white(GRD pin, terminal 10) and Violet(PRG Pin,terminal 2) pins. But when I open up my side mirror control switch, there are no wire going into terminal 2. Thus, the programing method cannot be used. I also tried the 2000-2002 programing method provided in this forum with no success(tried 11 times).
My remote has 3 buttons, lock and unlock next to each other and a panic red button below the two buttons.

Can anyone please help? I will appreciate any help. Thank you in advanced.

i would like to know as well as i may get a 3rd remote for my gen 4.

but i think you may have been able to get a cheaper remote from ebay. sounds like they did give you the right remote tho, so its not the remote's fault its not programing.

funny...after i posted on top of the forum was a link to keyless remotes.... http://www.keylessride.com/

well i guess that's how they make money.... if i were you i get some other REMOTE, the one where you can replace the battery by yourself

yeah, I knew I got ripped off when the dealer told me that the price was not including the programming. I just feel sad and dissapointed now that I got the remote and do not know what to do with it.

I really wish someone can help us out by giving us some helpful instructions.

I guess we are out of luck. Nobody replied to our question. I know this is not an easy question, because I have tried every programming instruction I can get my hands on in google. Thank you all anyways for looking in this post(attempting to help). .

is it original toyo alarm?

i know it works for my 2000 camry. if not, get one off ebay for about 11-15$ for your year. get it with the program.

try again.
i did that like 4-5 times before getting it to work.

if that does not work, PM some people who have a gen 4.
RangerX has a gen4.

skewe, yes, it is an original factory installed RS3000 on my 1998 camry LE. I will keep on trying and will also try to find other alternatives. I have heard of something called fujitsu 10 faxback service. I have not use it before, but I will share the experience with you all when I can get access to a fax machine. I am still trying to find out more about it. But, you're right. I will keep on trying the same procedure like you did and hopefully, I can have it working. Thanks a lot skewe. Really appreciate your advices and replies.

I will check with rangerX once I am familar with this forum. [I am still quite new and still trying learn some features.... eg. PM someone]

try that again. i know it took me 5-6 times before i got it.
follow the instructions to the T cos that might not work if u do not do so.

I know eFAx.com will let u receive free fax on your computer, up to 5-10 pages or something like that.

if nobody can help you over here, approach this guy. i bought my remote from him and he gave me good instructions and good/speedy reply. He sent my remote via regular mail and in 2 weeks, it did not arrive. After waiting for a few more days, he sent a new remote via Priority mail. Later the original remote arrived and he asked me to keep it.

http://stores.ebay.com/Car-and-Truck-Remotes
his email is/was: sobanskimariusz@yahoo.com

contact him and tell him that your are looking to buy for ur 98 camry.
He should know cos he sells remote for a living.

a response from the remote dealer.

Thanks for your email I would have to know if he has a factory installed keyless entry (usually 3 button remote, lock unlock and trunk, or panic), or dealer one usually 2 button one, grey or black (not interchangable, you must know the color)

Please let me know so that i can check if we have what he needs

I have had a few threads on this. Search and you will get your answer. Somewhere here there is also a PDF with instructions on how to do it. I hope its still up.
