How much a '96 LE worth????

Just curious. Not mine to sell, but lookin' to buy..........

It's a '96 w/ 170,000 miles on it. Looks in pretty good shape, but after 150,000 miles (to me anyway) it gets into that kinda "is it really worth much" territory.

Anyway, it's a typical LE. auto, air, pw, ps, etc. Outside of that, nothin' special. It's the 2.2L w/ standard steel wheels........(looks like a couple different versions of hubcaps, but no biggie to me, hubcaps are cheap).

Care to take a stab at what it's worth & then I'll letcha know what they're askin!!

TIA!!

get them to come down...170k is high miles ==they're going to argue that "but it's a toyota" kinda thing.

i have the exact car you're listing and i'm at 108k and that's on a 12k mile per year.
even at 15 k miles per year the miles should be no less than 135k. Ask them what have they dont in maintence..with a car at 170...you know you are going to need to catch up on maintence.

i kbb ed it and came out with 4225 for excelent condition at 170 k
3725 at just good condition and these are private party quotes

retail runs the car up to 6225

Hmmm..........(still workin' the wheels in my head).

Nadaguides lists at $2,900 for trade-in and just a little over $4K for good retail. (Shows about a $950 hit for havin' 170K on it).

If it were $3K, I'd probably jump on it. If it's only had one TB change, then that's gonna be comin' up really quick. I changed mine at 90K on my '98 (which also has 108K, like your '96....LOL).......but I doubt they'd have done a 2nd already, so that's a good $300 job right there, plus water pump & possibly cam seal, crank seal, valve cover gasket, etc. So if it was like my '98 at the dealer, probably a $600-$700 job to catch it up.

Plus, I'd probably wanna do a trans flush, radaiator flush/fill (Toyota Red only), then probably belts, hoses or whatever, & maybe brakes. That's well over $1K worth of stuff.

Now, if it's ALL DONE (everything I mentioned above) then that may be worth it, but ??????
