3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Not difficult if rusty bolts don't taunt you. To install, it's just a matter of removing the bolts on either end along with 2 brackets holding the bushings.
Most ppl opt to only get the rear bar to conteract the excessive understeer. Furthermore, installation of the front bar isn't as easy. I personally have both bars and find the car does still understeer more than I'd like under heavy cornering. However, for the most part, handling during normal daily driving seems much more neutral and firm overall. One reason, I got the front bar is because I had my entire suspension setup (springs/struts) done all at once whcih made things much easier.
i think the TRD one is adjustable, with street and racing settings....
but the Whiteline is a fixed setting, its not like you will be changing it all the time anyway
there have been a few threads about the Whiteline RSB before, seems it is pretty good
im actually thinking of getting one sooner or later too
so you're saying i can change the REAR SWAY BAR by myself, even though i dont have any MECHANICAL background LOL....
Hard to say. Only you know what you're capable of. When you get a chance, crawl under your car and take a look around and decide for yourself if you think you can handle it.
Based on stories from others, the seemingly easy install turned into a nightmare because of corroded bolts and endlinks. Then there are others that did it in their drive way without any problems.
The WL bar is thicker than TRD. However TRD has street and track settings. I've got WL. Be warned that the bushings have a tendency to sqeek due to premature drying. Marine grade lube and teflon tape around the bar where the bushing sits kinda helps.
i got the Whiteline FSB and i gotta say, it's a hella good investment! body roll is nearly gone on fast turns. i suggest you get this one first.
i also have the TRD RSB, and there's only two adjustable holes (one is normal and the other for a tighter grip). in terms of body roll, i can't really feel much in the rear cuz i never sat in the backseat.
i got both sway bars installed at a shop for $90. the FSB looked pretty tough to install due to the limited amount of room. as for the RSB, i think anyone is capable of installing it cuz there's a lot of space to work with.
my TRD strut bar was backordered for almost 3 weeks now

if hte front didnt roll and dive during a corner then yacar would just skate outwards and understeer.
its the rear bar keeping the rear end firm to let the front end dive (more then the rear) which is giving you good cornering :P
gen3 guys dont need an aftermarket fsb.. god the stock one is phat

Yea. I SNAPPED my front sway bar on my gen4. in a really weird place (like 16 inches from the right of the center) and like an idiot, I put a stock sway bar back in it. dumb dumb dumb
can you only order whitelines from the whiteline website? is there any US distributors? I tried looking once before but didnt come up with anything.

whoa how in the world did you snap your FSB? that's crazy; i guess i'll be more careful on turns now, cuz i heard stories where people even break their sway bar links (on rare occasions like drifting).
