94' Camry Leather Seats????

On my 94 Camry XLE I have started restoring the leather seats that had much neglect from the original owner. Out of curiousity, what kind of leather are on the Gen 3 seats? And who makes them for toyota?

Also, the top of the dashboard is that leather or vinyl?

What does bump mean? Is it to bump your thread to the top or something? I've seen it a bunch and was curious.

To stay on topic, the leather on my 93 xle has been taken care of by us since the car was new and they have still cracked and such. Knowing who made these seats would be good to know. That way I know who to complain to.

Leathers!

Hi!
I do not know what exact leather is on the Camry.
But the leather is pretty delicate even under the best care. I never park my car in the African sun and leather treat it every 2-3 weeks, and occasionally moisturize them by wiping with a slightly wet cloth but they've still developed new cracks!
I know someone on eBay selling replacement leathers for the Camry 92-96 at 499 Bucks. If I had the money, I have bought those by now. EBay automotive parts and accessories; interior. He may know more about the type etc.
Hope that is of help.
Patrick.

MOre than likely you are not going to find out who actually made the leather fabirc for the seats. You may try taking the cover off and see if there is a tag that states who the contractor is that made the fabric. ON some parts you will find a tag for the manfacturer of the parts. You see them a lot on the seatbelts. If they are going to bea nywhere they will probably be on the inside if you were to unzip the back part of the seat maybe there would be a tag inthere. It is wortha shot but dont count on finding anything. ALso jsut because you find who made the covers for them doesnt mean you will be able to contact them. They may not even be in business anymore, Toyota may not be using them for materials anymore or if your car came from Japan that starts a whole other story. If you are looking to possibly replace them and that is the reasn youwant to know I would just look into some of the shops that do work around your area. You could even call your local Toyota dealer and ask them who installs leather in their cars that dont come with it from the factory. I know we use a company here in Nashville called Cole Brothers and the leather they use is very top grade. I would say it is as good or better than the factory and all of the stiching looks factory. We send quite a few cars over there to have leather put in and they loof great. That would be the route to take if you are looking at replacing. Factory leather if you can even get it still is going to be priced outrageously where you can get aftermarket taht is jsut as good for less probably. And you can probably install it your self, it isnt very hard but can be a little time consuming.
