Anyone else have paint probs? 2001 CE

i have a 2001 camry ce, and the hood seems to be fairly well oxidized. its like the clear coat has disappeared. it doesnt have that shine that the rest of the paint has. it also seems to attract and hold dirt more than any other part of the car. what i mean is that if there is dirt on the roof or door, i can rub it off with a wet finger. not so with the hood. you can see a difference in shine b/w the hood and the front corner panels. the car is white if that matters.

its a certified preowned car that i bought in aug 04. i bought the warranty that supposedly extends the manufacturers warranty till the car has 100k mi on it, or 6 yrs from date of manufacture.

i want this car to last as nice as possible for as long as possible.

anyone else have this prob? how did you solve it? is it covered under warranty?

thanks in advance folks

sounds like a tl i detailed today. It sounds like the paint on the hood was unprotected for a an extended period of time and its water stained. Take a clay bar to it or a chemical cleaner like meguiars deep cleaner polish. Both can be bought at pepboys or autozone.

i thought that was the case, but i had it waxed about a month and a half ago, and its almost like the clearcoat is gone.

i have had to have it clayed twice now.

im thinking its more than just dirt, im thinking the paint is screwed.

anyone think the warranty will cover part of it?

Possibly it was painted before! If that was the case I doubt the warranty will cover it. Good Luck!
