Driving an auto I4 aussie Camry Sportivo, it does pick up after 3500rpm - 4000rpm, albeit a slightly lethargic pick-up-n-go, but you can kiss fuel economy goodbye!

Down here, we have 91, 95 and 98 RON fuel and although better fuel economy can be achieved on 98 RON fuel, you can't feel *any* noticeable performance boost!

I haven't driven my 2002 Camry I4 in more than two years, and I always put 87 gas in there..I never experiment with anything other than brand. I don't really see why higher octane would increase performance or reduce fuel consumption since the engine was designed to use 87 gas. But like I said, I haven't driven a 2AZ powered anything since early 2003.
