Gen 3-4: Fuel filter top bolt leaking petrol after install

Hi guys,

I just changed my fuel filter and the top bolt is leaking petrol. I see residue of gas on the top bolt after I warm up the engine or when i check it after a drive. The leak is very minor and I am not losing 1 gallon / week but it just piss me off to see the residue there.

I used a flare ranch and everything is tighten properly. I believe that there is no washer on that top bolt that delivers petrol out from the fuel filter into the engine.

Any thoughts???

aren't the washers (both of them) for the bolt under the fuel filter. Meaning, it is for the bolt where the fuel comes in from the gas tank

^ No.

Both washers go on the top bolt (banjo bolt).

The line going into the bottom of the filter has a flare nut fitting.

You may want to consider getting two new washers. Technically one you use them you should replace them if I rememebr correctly. SInce the deform when you tighten them down. That is why new filters come with two washers when you buy one, at least from Toyota they do.
