What happened to these wheel center caps?

I often see this kind of OEM wheels, i.e., the wheels look fine, but the center caps' color is either faded white or turning yellow. Anybody knows what is going on? These large center caps should be aluminum as well, right? Thanks for the advice.

SEM probably has as good a color match as one will find in the aftermarket.

Those caps are plastic which are then chrome plated.

Never seen them look like that in Hawaii, but I guess corrosion got to them.

That looked really bleached out. Inexpensive plastic.

Dupli Color nor SEM have an off the shelf match for the factory wheel color from my research.

I painted these wheel covers with Duplicolor Silver (not the hyper silver) but they don't seem to make that paint anymore. It's a real close match to the Toyota polished alloy and matches exactly painted Toyota wheels.

I have these wheels. They are plastic. However, the face has a brushed aluminum veneer, witH metal clips to hold them in. By the way mine are stock.
