Actually, if Toyota offers lots of stand-alone options, people have more control over what they want in their car. The reason being is that some of Toyota's packages don't make sense, like Tideland Prius says. Toyota's packages should make more sense, or at least be a bit more flexible.
Safety in a car should NOT be a luxury, or offered *only* on the highest trim. Or how about the nifty rear seats in the Yaris that slide, split, recline, and fold flat. They're only available (I believe) on the Yaris RS. What good is that? This is a potential deal breaker for someone like me, yet you can't get it on a base Yaris.
