FYI- I got a factory stereo from a 2005 Camry and tried to plug it into a 2006 Camry, and the plugs are different.
A little background: The goal was to integrate an iPod into the 2006 Camry. All the info I read from most every manufacturer for an iPod integration kit said that I needed to have a factory stereo with a "DISC" button. This indicates that the stereo can control a CD Changer if so equipped. My 2006 Camry factory stereo does not have a button labeled "DISC", but has a button labeled "CD". This is the JBL 3-in-1 stereo. I just assumed this meant my factory stereo could not control a CD Changer. I proceded to purchase a 2005 factory stereo on ebay which had the DISC button only to find that Toyota had changed the plugs from 2005 to 2006. The good news is that I learned that the 2006 JBL stereo can indeed control a CD Changer so I was able to use the iPod integration kit.
So if anyone else out there is looking to get one of these iPod kits and sees that you need a DISC button, don't believe it. At least not if you have the JBL 3-in-1 factory stereo.
By the way, I got the Peripheral iPod2Go and it works great. One of the most important features I was looking for was the fact that this kit does not lock out the controls on the iPod so you can still navigate using those controls. Many of the other kits lock the iPod controls out and require you to navigate the iPod from the head unit and the response is sluggish to say the least.
So now I have my iPod mounted to the dash and connected through the factory head unit with CD quality sound.
Anyone want to buy a 2005 camry factory head unit? single CD/AM/FM with CD changer control. I'll also have a 2006 camry factory JBL 3-in-1 head unit for sale as soon as I get the Eclipse AVN5435 navigation unit.
