5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Today I parked beside a 2002 XLE V6 Camry, holy that thing is so chubby compare to Gen3! It's also 3-4 inches taller than mine all around (trunk, door, hood).
I would do anything to drop it and get some 18"s with it because it just looks too huge.
Yeah, just this past Saturday after our anniversary BBQ, the nearby dealership which was Wondries Toyota in Alhambra, had more than 20 SE V6s with navi! One of the SE V6's they had was packed with DIA (Dealer Installed Accessories) including a fat 7 spoke 18" wheel (325i style), tinted windows, and a few other items for profit. The MSRP for a SE V6 w/Navi here in So.Cal is $30.5. After all those options...the stupid price went up to $35. That's a bunch of garbage! It looked pretty nice w/18s but like you said...it definitely needs to be lowered.
The exterior of the Gen 6 is just bigger. The interior is the same size as a Gen 5.

If you think the 2002 is chubby, look at the Gen 6 XLE
I think the SE's don't look like they have as huge of an ass, partially because the SE kit is black on the rear bumper, so it has the appearance of it being smaller (at least to me).

+1. For me, the Gen6 really looks bubbly at some angles.

+1 I couldn't agree more. If they didn't have an SE model, there's no way I would consider buying a Gen 6. Without the body kit, it is too fat, round, and plain IMO.

holy thread revival batman!
i do concur about the width of the gen 5...i love the bodystyle, but its chunky and thats why i like it partially
mine is lowered, and it still looks much higher than asg14 or bigbird's lowered gen 3 and 4 models, aven though the cars stance is in fact lower than both of their cars. my roofline just seems to sit much higher
