converting 07 camry engine to 06 is350 enginer

does anyone know if this is possible. i like the camry price but the performance of the is350. can this be done with just changing a few things in the engine without having to swap engines???

No, the IS350 gets 308hp...

reyrey127, there's no way you're going to add 40hp with "a few minor engine modifications." For that kind of power, you're looking at some serious N/A tuning, or forced induction. Either way, $$$.

Is it worth doing (given that it is possible) for few horsepower? Me, I don' think so.

Who cares about the few extra horsepower difference between IS and the Camry. Oh wait, you're from the expensive parts of Cali, where every youngster drives nice cars and every horsepower matters for some reason. Stereotype, but true?

West coast man, I just don't get it. Over in Michigan, you buy a nice car with everything, you go on the freeway and this stupid dump truck starts flicking tiny stones at you. You drive in downtown detroit freeway and there goes your rims. You park, and this dumbass Michigander talking on the cell phone swipes your bumper.

I guess if I lived in west coast, I probably would think of the same thing.

The car hasn't even been released yet and your wanting to swap/mod its marvelous 3.5L V6!!!
Man, this engine is going to be AWESOME..swapping it out is to spit on the Camry...
And to mod it, well, who knows! Wait till the engine is released and do some tinkering. Perhaps Toyota de-tuned this engine to the max to handle emmissions and to set it into it's target category...the motor might have plenty more potential than they say....just have to wait and see.

thanks for the response. i just thought the engines were the same in general and just some difference in minor engine parts. perhaps i was mistaken.

does anyone know what the 0-60 is for the 07 camry. someone had mentioned it was 1/10 slower than the current avalon.

my parents have the 05 avalon and it seems pretty quick, but nothing like the is350 i test drove. but thanks for the reply.

I like this idea better..

How about you buy the 3.5 V6 2007 Camry and you put a nice 50 or 75 HP shot of Nitrous Oxide in it... ???

white i wasn't saying only a few MINOR engine modifications would get him that kind of power i know it means $$$ but a few $$$ modifications would allow him to have that kind of power...such as you said "forced induction" or "naturally aspirated"

since its the same engine. Try to find out what they changed between the two? retune it? and see what that cost is.

I still like the Nitrous Oxide idea better...

People could tell an IS-350 would kick ass but not a Camry as it is supposed to be a family car...

If your choice is you definitely want a Camry, but IS-350 power, I go with the Nitrous idea....

Come on, put out US$500 and it will give U a nice NX kit with a 5lb. bottle...

lol i agree w/ ufoz b/c whatever you spend to get it to that power may cost you just as much money as you would have spent extra to just get the IS350 instead

yeah plus.....the IS350 is RWD too right? but to me......i think 268 HP would definitely be enough for me! especially now.....i only have 192 stock =/ be happy man. you got me beat.
