2002 Extended Warranty Information

Hello All: I bought a 2002 Camry XLE V6 in 2005 and signed up for the extended warranty. Can someone shed light on if that will cover a possible catalytic converter problem? I had the engine check sign come on and was told by a Valvoline guy that the computer suggested that the catalytic converter Bank 1 was not working to full efficiency. Very specific question, but any information will help! THANK YOU

Harsha

Yeah, it should cover it, as long as the exhaust isn't modified.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

Thanks for the quick response! The previous owner had leased it new, put 20k miles in 3 years! The car is spanking new and nothing has been modified! Is there any online literature for me to read? THANKS AGAIN!

You may not even need for the extended warranty to cover it. Most new cars have longer warranties on the emissions related items. It is mandated by the federal government. You should take it to Toyota and ask them about that first. With your extended warranty you will most likely have to pay some kind of deductible, with the factory warranty you should not have to. It may even be considered part of the powertrain since it is engine related which is covered up to 5yrs or 60k miles. Most of the time the emissions warranty is like ten years or 100k miles I think.
As for the extended warranty you will want to read it very well to determine if it will be covered. Some extended warranties specifically state the exhaust is not covered. They may or may not include the converters in the exhaust system.

That was an awesome reply! I wonder if the manf. warranty is transferable from owner to owner? I don't think so but anyone with any ideas? I got the bumper-2-bumper extended warranty so I'll need to check the terms.

Also, do you folks have any feedback on the dealers? I'm going to the Woburn, MA dealer tonight to check this out .. Thank you so much! This forum rocks!

Doesn't the V6 only have one cat? If the Oil change guy said bank one he probably meant an O2 sensor! Then again I have been wrong before!

all factory warranties are transferable to any amount of owners. they are provided with the car at no charge to how ever many owners there may be. You can be the first ownner or the tenth owner and if the warrnaty period has not been exceeded by time or mileage the rapairs are performed at no charge.
