5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
ok i have a 2005 camry that i am currently got to use as a cab for about a year now, its I-4 (pretty dumb for a cab),,i have 310 321KM's on the motor now,,its running perfectly fyne, recently done its first major tune up.....How long do u think this motor will last me,,this car is the greatest,,didnt give me not one problem yet accept my ABS kinda got messed cause i dropped coffee on the Controller while i wuz chekin the oil,,im surprised it still didnt start eating up oil yet,,fuel economy is the greatest..I wanna know how long this thing might last till or how long it should last,,,and what i should do once it starts giving problems
321,000 km on this car? Id think the interior, trans and front end would have abut had it by now, im surprised anybody could put this kinda milage on a 2 year old car but its a cab - right; even Toyotas dont last forever, when it starts eating parts, and it will, its a tossup whether you want to keep feeding it $500 of parts every month or get rid of it. Id say if you get to 400k start storing front end parts, alternator, water pump, rebult head, and the like and change em when they go.
how long will it last? it will last longer than you will be taxiing. Just do the maintenance.
Not with that kind of milage... he's averaging 155160.5km per year. Thats roughly 96975 miles per year, 8081.25 miles per month. Thats a hell of a lot of stress on an engine, and I don't even see how its possible to rack up that kind of milage, but thats beside the point. You'd better be doing 3 oil changes per month on dino, or once a month on synthetic, or it ain't gonna last much longer....

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

I overlooked the milage. I guess I just saw that it was a fairly new car therefore it should last. but you are right if you are putting 100,000 miles a year in a car the car wont last to long espicially since taxis do mostly city stop and go driving. But I do think better a camry than some other car like ford. To be honest I have never heard of a camry with much more than 300,000 miles and he will be there next year. My fathers camry has 2 hundred something and he has had new tranny, major engine work.

I would just drive it to the ground. It should last for a wile longer. Just change ur oil at 3000 miles, change your antifreese at 100,000(if you use Toyota red),and change your trany fluid at 30,000 miles and you should be find for a fue100,000miles
ABS messed up because you spilled coffee on the actuator? I definately call BS on that one. It is a sealed unit. Unless you poured coffee INTO your brake system then the damage is not because of your spill.

i dont see how thats impossible though, taxi's get insane mileage on them...
500k mi over 5 years isnt too hard for a taxi, if your car lasts that long, that is...
