Cost of Installing OEM 02 Camry Spoiler at Dealership???
Hey wuz up everyone.
I just wanted to know if there's anyone on here who can give me ballpark estimate on how much it might cost to have a spoiler I ordered for my 02 Camry installed at a Toyota dealership.
I called Darcars Toyota which is my local dealership and they keep bullshittin when I call telling me I would have to bring the spoiler in and have a look at my car too. I'm thinkin, dont you stupid people do this sort of thing all the time? Why can't they quote me.
If anyone here has had this dont or even better works for Toyota and can give me an estimate or at least some hourly labor rates that would be nice.
Normally, they charge ~$500 for parts and labor if you buy and install at the same dealership. I paid $350 for mine for parts, paint, and labor, but it wasn't at a dealership.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.
all you need to do is drill 2-4 holes, cover with silicone (so it dont rust) and bolt it down.... then steal the wiring from the center light and feed it to the spoiler light =)

why would u bring it to a dealer, do u honestly think theyd do a better job than than a body shop? screw the dealer, they charge 80-100 bux an hour. for what, some apprentice kid to drill a hole in your trunk and slap on some silicone.
I appreciate the responses. I bought the spoiler off Ebay for less than $100. Looks like OEM. So I dont need to worry about paint because it came painted. And there's no way in the world I was spending between $375-$450 on a spoiler through Toyota. Anyone whose done that is on the real. I will probably end up taking it to a body shop. Again, thanks for the responses.

Do you have an aftermerket spoiler or a factory spoiler? f you have an aftermarket spoiler and if I was the dealer, I would want you to bring the car in also.
To correctly install even a factory spoiler, you would need the installation kit - whcih includes template (Part #00477-32972), Rear spoiler lamp failure sensor (Part #PT220-33000), and Toyota has special hole cutters to make the holes.
With an aftermarket spoiler, does it come with a template for drilling holes? What is the center brake light set-up? Would there need to be some additional wiring work that need to be done? etc....
I would look into a body shop also...

i installed it from the dealer when I first brought the car. Costed 500 for parts & labor. I wanted to get a moonroof installed in my 05 camry, but it was 1000 dollars for parts and labor at the dealers....ouch.

you can install it yourself no problem- just take the time to make sure that it's centered properly and make your own template out of paper or something to get the positioning of hte holes
and to tom2000 -> if it doesn't coem with a template, you can just make your own, and to get power, all you have to do is run a wire to your center brake light and splice into it- since the lights on the spoiler are leds, they don't draw much current at all

Thanks for your respose Eye8...dont know if I am too comfortable with installing it myself because I'm not a car savvy person. I will have to buy a power drill too. Anyway I'll see. The spoiler is supposed to come with the instructions for installation. Again, thanks for the helpful responses.
Yes, there is a difference between OEM and wanna be OEM spoiler. The wannabe OEM looks identical, but the spoiler LED brake light is a cheap version, and it is dimmer compared to OEM. You get what you pay for in this case.
I would take it to some other body shop, than the dealer If I didn't do it myself.
About silicone ........ Beware some of them will actually cause rust on certain metals, so when you are sealing keep it on the paint and off the bare metal.
