04 XLE question

I need to replace the cup holder door in the center console. On the XLE it requires a simple touch to the door and the door automatically swings open. Anyone know how to remove this door so I can replace it? My wife dropped something on it and cracked the door so I want to buy a replacement and replace.
Thanks.

I do not know about XLE. Couple of day ago we had a discussion about removing the center piece on 2004 LE. To be short:

1. Open the center storage cover and keep it open.
2. Pull parkig lever up.
3. Wrap rag around scredriver tip to prevent center piece from damage and gently pry it along the perimeter (I do not use screwdriver but simply pull it up with my fingers).

For more details do the search.

Thanks.
You'll want to remove the wood trim that goes from your shifter back to your center arm rest. If you need pictures, let me know. The cupholder door on the XLE is a little bit different than that of the LE... and because the e-brakes lever is on the floor, you'll have a better time of remving the wood trim too.

(1) open both compartments of center arm rest
(2) open cup holder door just slightly with enough room to put your fingers between the door and the back of the opening
(3) pull up and the backend of the trim should be released
(4) next pull up gently on the front

- doing it this way avoids scratches to the trim

Anyways - I've removed that cupholder door before (I put LED lights there to have the cupholder compartment light up) and it doesn't look like the lid piece is sold separately - in order to replace it, you'll have to remove a screw in the back of the holder, its spring, and also separate the lid from the rest of the assembly. It can be done but will be difficult - Your best bet would be to find a new center trim (just the part that runs from shifter to arm rest) complete with the cupholder and replace that.

Mine is an '05 XLE so not quite sure if they're 100% similar. Well, hope that helps...
