Gen5 New 06 XLE

Traded my 04 in for the 06 this past weekend. I like the redesigned head and tail lights. Toyota was having some great deals over President's day weekend. I was going to wait for the 07 but I have a buddy who sells Toyotas and he said when they roll them out there will be a waiting list and no discounts at all, I would have had to pay full sticker. So I decided on the 06. I have always wanted a car from the end of a generation. For example, I love the 01 Gallery Edition, two-tone paint, a sweet ride!!
Only item I feel I am missing in the 06 is that the dash over the radio/AC is considered an upgrade from Toyota and mine did not have it.

I like the gen 5 tail lights better.

I would still buy 5.5 over 5 though since the SE had the best engine setup of any camry, right?

On the XLE they put wood on the center console wher the shift is, on the storage box and on the ac area. They have the area around the radio/ac as an upgrade. That is the part that is missing. Toyota is giving me a hard time about ordering that part. They keep telling me that it is a different color. I tried explaining that there is only one color for the wood dash on the generation 5 camrys but they say I am wrong.

I was able to get the XLE with leather, loaded, 4 banged for $24000 even.

My 05 has 22K already

I think I might just keep it.

No, you are NOT wrong - the dealer doesn't know what they're talking about. Mine came with it missing too, then I bought it afterwards. If you can't get it through one dealer, go to another one - they can order it for you and regardless of year, its the same color, size, and shape. There are two varieties -- one for a car w/radio only and one for a Navi system (the opening is a little different)

good luck

yeah, you have a point on the 2007. also, there will be production bugs with the new model and probably after 2008 they will work out the bugs after the shake down period. better to wait and not rush in to buy the 07 until one is certain there are no recalls. i will also trade in my 05 but will wait until the end of 2006 or maybe even december 2007 to feel the market.
