5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Just wanted to tell you guys that whoever hasn't driven a 07' Camry yet, really is missing out. I went to the dealership today and test drove a XLE V6 and i loved it. I love it so much that i signed the paperwork and will pick up the car next thursday. Guys, it is a great car and so smooth riding. It's veryhard for me to explain the feeling to someone, you actually have to experience it yourself. The car that i bought is in ribbon blue and comes with the navigation system and the remote starter. I am actually the first one buying this car yet from the dealership and probally will be the first driving this car in my neighborhood. I really look forward to it.

On the postitive side, I'm very happy that they went back to 4 wheel discs on all the 4 cylinder models. My generation 3 4 cylinder has 4 wheels discs (was added when you opted for antilock brakes back then) but my generation 4 4 cylinder has front discs and rear drums. Both are XLE models. Believe me, you can really tell the difference in stopping power when you go from car to car. I also really like the ride of the car. It feels like a much heavier car. I also like the standard 16 inch wheels.
The only thing I dislike about the car is that there is no option to add a cassette to the 6 disc in-dash cd player. I like to tape radio shows and listen to them on long trips. I know with Mazdas you can add a cassette as an option. I know this is minor to most people but it is just something I am used to. I also know you can't compare the fidelity of cd's to the old casette tape,s but for taping your own shows or listening to books on tape, there really is no other option. I listen to cd's mostly. My generation 3 has the casette and the 3 disc magazine fed changer made for Toyota by Alpine. My generation 4 has the 3 in 1 radio, casette and cd player. I added an aftermarket (Panasonic) 8 disc changer that goes in the trunk and is operated by the 3 in 1 radio controled by way of an adapter. Press the cd button once and you get the 1 disc in the dash to play; press it a second time and it accesses the 8 disc changer in the back. Works great and I installed it on the back of the fold down rear facing straight up. (Had to work on the mounting bracket a bit to get it to sit perfectly vertical.) You can access it from inside the car by folding down the back of the rear seat. So you see, I'm really a big fan of cd's. I just like the flexibility of using a cassette for a few things.

Funny you say that..because I think it was here on TN where somebody said that 4-wheel disc/disc + drum doesn't make a big difference - but coming from a gen 3.5 V6 w/ 4-wheel disc brakes, there's a big difference in my opinion. I also drive a '05 Avalon from time to time and it definitely feels more confident in stopping.
Anyway.. I'm happy as well, and I like the standard 16" wheels too. My gen 5.5 looks too big for 15" tires.

All the '07 Camrys I've seen in inventory so far have automatics.
Will the V6 ever be available with stick? Honda has a pretty sweet six-speed manual with short, crisp throws. Are the Camrys too much of a family car to have anything as much fun as that?
If you don't mind saying, what kind of price did you get for it?

Just burn a CD of the taped show. Anything on tape can be burned to a CD. I know it's an extra step. It will sound better however.
