Oops!! I accidentally test-drove an '07 LE & V6 XLE!!!!!!!!! Uh oh! (c=

I don't know what happened. I was driving by the dealership & my car stopped. I got out & accidentally fell into the driver's seat of an '07 LE. Then a little later, I found myself stranded in the seat of a topped out V6 XLE!

It was weird. I dunno what happened. I made them both go fast. They were quiet & smooth........(though I must admit that the *smooth* part wasn't quite as smooth as I'd hoped it would be in a complete model revision).........but to save myself from the wrath of my loving wife, I left the dealership in the same vehicle I drove there.........(on accident, of course).

Well, maybe not having it super smooth may be a good thing. If its too smooth you cant feel the road. I didnt test drive a Camry 07 today but went to look at one in the show room. Wow. load with goodies, connection for your i-pod, for example. nicenew bold look.

Yes, I must say the new layouts are pretty cool!!!

The XLE definitely has a crazy-cool dash. I actually can't believe how different it is from the CE/LE!!!!

There's a different in the center console as well as the gage cluster. I'd love to jump all over an XLE V6, but the LE V6 was only $23K, so being I'm "cheap" I'd probably rather pocket the extra $5K & just enjoy the regular dash & no moonroof, etc.

OH.........also......quite a bit of torque steer in the V6, too!! Punch that pedal & you'd better be hangin' onto the steering wheel or you're going for a drastic turn!!! Unexpected, but not surprising.

I think the biggest surprise for me was the MPG #'s. The 4 is 24/32 & the V6 is 22/31. VERY impressive to me, for a V6!!! Especially for *that* V6!! It's definitely got juevos!

*****Double OH...............last thing................I hate to almost say this as it's kinda' disappointing..........but.........

The V-6 had a little lag from a stop. I was VERY surprised to feel this. I don't know what's missing there. Maybe the one I test-drove was a fluke, but every start from a stop had this little lag before the motor pushed the car forward. Weird! The 4 definitely did not have this. There was also a slight lag on speeding up at speed, but I don't consider this unusual as it's got 6 gears to choose from. Still, I think it's worth mentioning!

My .02!!!

(I'd probably pick up a I-4 LE if I bought one today!)

there are some rare limited edition 07 camry v6s in the U.S. w/ stick... there's like 52 of them or something... incredibly hard to find and incredibly expensive... 1-2 per state... if you're near San Diego I believe there's one down there...

When i dropped my car off a few months ago for them to fix the tranny(which they never have yet) The service manager let me take his '07 SE but the 4 banger. Was a nice ride, ALMOST made me wish i had waited for them to start coming in used. But i still like my '02 SE V6!

A lot of torque steer??? Relative to what? I am amazed at the small amount of torque steer relative to other cars with similar power. Compared to a 4 speed K car maybe.

Wow!

Talk about resurrected from the dead!!!

Hard to believe it was 3/06 that I posted this thread. Been still crankin' on my good ole' '98........(I think she's a keeper).

I'm actually still tossin' around when I might hop on a new Camry.

Anybody know (I searched briefly, but still just see the same complaints) if Toyota is giving an official position on the transmission issues??

(NOTE that I noticed the trans stuff even way back then...3/06.....so it was definitely not a fluke!)
