5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Just placed an order with a dealer for a 2007 Camry V6 LE, with JBL stereo upgrade option and 16inch alloy wheels only. Dealer stated that all V6 LE's currently in stock and incoming 1) do not have the JBL upgrade and 2) do not come with alloys. Therefore, needed to place an order for just those 2 options added.
Questions for those of you who have the "inside" information from the factory.
1) Dealer said the special order wait time will be 8-12 weeks. The first 2-4 weeks is just waiting for the factory to state if they will even add the JBL stereo upgrade and alloys to the
V6 LE at all. Is this accurate?
2) Given that Toyota's website stated that those 2 are options, why are there no V6 LE's shipped with even the JBL stereo upgrade only? I reside in Southern California, and checking with 5 different Toyota dealers, they've all said the same thing.
Reason for ordering a V6 LE instead of going to an V6 XLE is the fold down rear seats, no need for leather, and obviously $5k difference.
I just ordered my 2007 SE V6 in Titanium Metallic and I was told a 5-6 week wait time, I got all the options so im hoping for a miracle for it to come it sooner
I asked these same questions when I was "trying" to order a Corolla LE with the JBL, Traction control and Vehicle Stability control. I ordered mine in Feb....it was slated for production during the first week of May. It annoys me that they call them "Options" when they should be calling them "Special Order" in the first place.
I ended up getting a 2007 Camry off the lot. Kinda glad I did...Spartan Toyota knew I was ticked off and I was serious about leaving them and going elsewhere...they gave me a decent deal on the two week old Camry.

I am hoping within the next month to buy, most likely, an SE V6. I'm looking to add the option that includes everything but the navigation system. I hope my wait time isn't as long. I'm in the NY/NJ metro area.
Checking the discussion thread on the 2007 Camry at Edmunds.com, it appears that there is no such thing as "special order" through the Toyota Production System. The process of "special orders" is that dealers try to find a matching car, color, and option package, that the customer requested, from other dealers. OR they just wait for the factory to produce such a car with the options and colors.
Got a response from the dealer and they're stating 3-4 months wait time. Apparently, Toyota will not configure 1 car with options, they will only mass produce them. So for those of us looking for a V6 LE with JBL stereo upgrade are out of luck...until possibly August/September.
As a pain in the Ass that it is to wait....I have to hand it to Toyota for doing that. It is more efficient. American car makers will turn around a "order" in a few weeks and they wonder why they are losing money.
Too stack up orders then make them is the best business sense for these companies....
