Body Side Molding for 07 Camry

I guess by now everyone has figured our that the new Camry's don't come with body side molding. It is now offered by Toyota as an accessory. Anyone had these installed yet? If so, how much did you pay for the molding and the labor to install them??

07's haven't been out long enough for anyone to have side moldings installed and most owners probably haven't even come across that conclusion yet

I don't want them.

Here's a site to buy them:

The last car I had with side moldings was a 2003 Corolla -- and I took those dang moldings OFF.

They probably help in about 2% of all "door ding" situations. They look horrible 100% of the time.

With so many trucks and SUV's out there, chances are huge that they'll hit you at some point where those moldings aren't going to protect the car.

I haven't had a door ding in ANY of the cars I've bought new -- a period of about 15 years. I really don't even recall getting any "new" dings in any of the used cars I've ever owned, though I've bought some with dings already in them. A period of about another 15 years.

99% more effective than side moldings is just to never EVER park next to another car. Park out in the boonies EVERY time you possibly can. Find a curb you can park a half-inch away from, leaving far more room on the other side of the parking space for the uncaring idiots to have enough room to get out of their cars without hitting yours. And so on. Just stop looking for "the closest space to the store," and instead look for the space farthest away from the store that'll be the most protective of your car (curbs to one side and to the front) and least likely to attract other cars because it's so far away from the door of whatever building you're parking around.

That has worked for me for about 30 years!

The good thing about the '07 camry not having the "body side molding" is that you can install a different color molding if you like. You'll then have a camry unlike all the others out there. I think the molding is a "must have." It looks crappy without it. Just my opinion. As for installation - it should be a snap. The moldings come in kit form with instructions.

I disagree... you need some sort of line there to break up the 150 square feet of door when you are looking at the side profile.

I Agree

Nice that it's optional. I prefer a clean look with as few emblems, attachments, etc, etc. I've tried to do this to my own car as much as possible and keep it to two colors maximum. Feedback? Jon. p,s. if I try removing them what's below holes?

Many of the moldings on other cars (e.g. Benz) look nice also... because they were part of the design.

Now, the new '07 Camrys has a smooth door. No recess... nothing. To simply stick a molding on it makes it look like an afterthought.

Personally, I'd like to have nice body moldings but ONLY if it were part of the design. However, I don't think the optional molding on the '07 Camry will look nice.

I share some thoughts that cars without moldings may look like low-end models (e.g. Tercel). However, I am also noticing more and more luxury cars (BMW, Acura, Lexus, etc.) do not have side moldings.

In summary, I prefer to have moldings, but only if integrated nicely with the design. For cars didn't come with moldings, I probably won't add it.

STRONGLY AGREE. I think all previous gens look great with molding, but not on the Gen 6

Like many other people said, it looks better off without the body side mouldings.

I had the molding installed and IMHO it looks better plus it gives a little protection to the sides.
