2007 Camry SE V6 Performance/Traction Control

So, the May issue of Road & Track, page 81, lists the following specs:

The performance numbers are out for 2007 Camry SE V6, 6AT.
1/4 mile: 14.5@99.9 mph (5/06 R&T test 61F, 350ft)

There is another vehicle test in the same issue, Passat 3.6, 6AT
1/4 mile: 14.5@100.2 mph (5/06 R&T test 94F, 350ft)

They are faster than '04 TL with 6MT
1/4 mile: 14.8@96.6 mph (4/04 R&T test 88F, 150ft)

and '04 Accord coupe EX-V6.
1/4 mile: 14.8@97.2 mph (3/04 R&T test)

The surprising thing about it is it is Camry was actually quietest at constant 70mph.
TL is at 70dBA, EX-V6 coupe at 71dBA, Passat is at 72dBA, while the Camry was 68dBA.

AND comparing handling of the SE to a coupe:

The '07 Camry SE V6 with 215/55-17 Toyo Proxes J33 did 0.83g and 63.6mph

The '04 EX-V6 Coupe with 215/50-17 Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 M+S did 0.81g and 63.9mph.

And if you really want to have fun/be dangerous I have personally confirmed that the Lexus procedure to disable the VSC works on the Camry, and it disables the traction control. Supposedly, according to a post on Edmunds (Inside Line) forums, some kid is claiming a 0-60 time of 5.7 with the traction control disabled. He also says he has a flowmaster exhaust on it

i was quoted 27910 for an SE V6 with pretty much all options except for the navigation. Is this a good price. It seems pretty good as it appears to be almost $1000 below invoice.

2007 SE Dealer Pricing

I am looking to buy an SE here in the SF Bay Area...so far I am getting internet quotes from dealers around the $27,300-27,600 range. That is for an SE V6 w/leather, moonroof, JBL, VSC/TRAC....everything but nav. Is this a good price? The dealers dont seem to want to budge on this price. I did see a post on Edmunds saying someone bought the SE-V6 w/options for $26,500. Anyone else buying or bought an SE recently?

My SE V6 w/NAV/XM RADIO/VSC/REMOTE START/Pwr Seats, and everything else was purchased for $28,800 which is $600 over invoice. MSRP was around $31,500.

Toyota's Profit Margins

Its interesting to note that Toyota's profit margin is 14% vs. 8-9% for BMW/Acura, so basically, you go in to Toyota and always get a discount from MSRP, but in the end the average Joe will still pay about 7% over the dealer's invoice, so you are basically paying full MSRP relative to the other car makers. To come to par with "good" deals on say an Acura, you'd need to negotiate to no more than $300 over dealer invoice. Here on the West coast I am hearing that Toyota adds a $500/car advertising fee....so you're looking at $800 over invoice. Sneaky Toyota...or should I say smart?
