CAMRY 07 Oil Filter location?

Hey guys/gals, anyone know where the Oil filter is on the 2007 Camry V6? Also where is the transmission dipstick? Thanks in advance.

Your oil filter is a cartridge type, not a normal cannister. You must go beneath the car to see it hanging down right by the oil pan. You have to take the housing off to get to the cartridge. As for the trans, I believe you have one of the new sealed transmissions which means no dipstick. A quick look in your owners manual will fill you in on both these concerns.

Oil Filter 07 V6

Well, I can't find anything in the Owners Manual about changing the oil filter. There are several pages about the type of oil and checking the oil but I do not see anything about changing the oil or filter. However, it is a cannister type system with a cartridge filter in it.

On the bottom of the canister is a round drain plug that you take off with the end of a 3/8 drive ratchet. The new filter kit comes with a plastic fitting that then pushes up into the cannister (or housing) and you attach a hose to it (before pushing it in) to drain the oil in the cannister. Then you unscrew the cannister or housing (whatever you want to call it) with a filter wrench. I got lucky and the filter wrench I bought for my son's 05 V6 Honda Accord happens to fit this housing. It is one that fits on a 3/8 ratchet. I don't know the size but it fits the stock factory Honda 2005 V6 filter.

The Toyota filter kits come with 2 new "O" rings, one for the drain plug and one for the cannister and the plastic "pipe" for draining the cannister. The Toyota part number is 04152-31090 for the filter.

Also, the owners manual doesn't show anything about checking the transmission fluid either. I haven't had time to look into that yet.

If anyone can post some pictures with oil and oil filter replacement procedures, that would be greatly appreciated.

the Dealership where I bought my Camry has a $17.00 deal on oil changes. I will let them hassel with it...

My 66 Corvette Sting Ray has the original cannister filter and it's very messy. Also, be sure to remove the old O ring and position the new O ring correctly or you could have a bad day. Definitly not DIY friendly. I don't understand why Toyota would do this.

Yeah man, they were doing good. All you had to do before was get around the exhaust manifold from the top ... now a canister? Those are for Volkswagens and Audis ... gah.

Way to go Toyota...

I think more and more car makers are doing this. Mazda started it a few years ago, and I believe Honda did too. The reason is to save money and make it eaiser to recycle.
