5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
After test driving an '07 LE Saturday I couldn't stop staring at the grille. Of course the sales team thinks it's gorgeous, but I have my doubts. What do you think?
^ The fact that you're asking should tell you something.
You could have asked: "Is the '07 CE/LE/XLE Camry Grille Attractive?"
Trust your instinct.
The intention to make the Toyota logo as obvious as possible has given it a "Jimmy Durante" characteristic. The change from 06 to 07 Camry grill reminds me of the 05 to 06 grill change for the WRX - "Why did they do it?"
Another poll option would be: "It doesn't encourage me to buy the new model."

The most even (and uninteresting) would probably have been "Do you find it attractive or unattractive?" But I figured the word "ugly" would invoke a visceral reaction, and if folks don't "come out swinging" in favor of the design here, then there's probably trouble in River City.

Actually I like my Black LE's grill better then a XLE grill. I do not car for the chrome around the grill. I like simple over all black. However, on the Ribbon Blue and the Barcelona Red Metalic the chrome looks good. On the Sky Blue Pearl or the Jasper Pearl..well..err...nothing can make those look good. hehe Sorry just my opinion...
EDIT:The Porpoise Nose of the front of these Camry's was also designed for hitting a PED. That made me laugh...how many times do we simply run down a PED. They say the injuries from hitting a PED has more to do with the hood of the car...so this new design minimizes that. Still makes me laugh tho....

And of course the new GS that I think has a lot of camry in it, but the front end is definitely smoother.

The thing is since the GS front grille is similar to this, I wonder if a swap would be SOMEWHAT of an option for a smoother look but we'll have to see.

But I realize 2007 GS and ES would be good choices. Somebody look at this thread and tell you don't see Camry genetics in there. The front grille is also fantastic. http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t120834.html
Maybe it would involve minor cutting/screwing around but there SHOULD be a way to fit these in a camry frontpiece.

I think this is an early desing but still, the front end is HOT.
