check your 07 camry for defective gas pump

Hi everyone, I would like to inform you about a problem that I've encountered and could possibly happen to you. Basically, after driving about 1k miles, I found that my new camry was making air escaping's sound near the rear tire area. I did a little troubleshooting and found that only when the car is on does the noise exist. I thought that it was just normal engine noise, but after many days of hearing this noise, I decided to take it back to the dealer. The dealer also believe that it's a normal engine noise, but I didn't believe that after 1k miles the engine would make that much noise. Although they didn't want to check it out, I asked them to check it out anyways. It turns out the gas pump was defective and need to be replace. The part takes about a month and a half to be delivered and I've been waiting impatiently, but at the same time I would rather be safe to drive so I had no choice except to wait. I recommend you check this out as my dealer said that they are getting more of these gas pump issue. Hope you don't have this issue.

Phew

For all you guys wanting to get an 07 wait a bit longer. I'm afraid Toyota is going the same route as GM, throwing cars on the market as quickly as possible and letting the defects arise via consumers. I don't recall any of my Toyota's in the past having major issues including an 84, 92, 95, 96, 99, 00, 01 and 06. Toyota has already sacrificed customer service hopefully it doesn't begin to sacrifice quality . J.

That's good info., but I wish that was the case for my car. Basically, when I turn my car on, the sound of air leakage occurs and it doesn't happen in the case when my car is off. The dealer has confirmed that through test drive and maintanence check. As far as which trim has this problem, my dealer wasn't sure, but all they said was "we'll expect to see this issue, so we ordered more parts for it" I think we should all check how are car is doing by simply listen, looking, and checking around for any unusual.
