Gen5 camry 03 slotted rotors installed help *with pics*

hey guys, I just installed new slotted rotors onto my camry 03 v6 with ebc green stuff brake pads. The front pads that I bought fit in just perfectly, the rear ones though, not so good. They didnt fit at all. I then resorted to using the old pads that came with the camry (which had a pretty good life left in them) in combination with my new rotors. Here are some pictures of it. My question is, because the new pads had break in padding, am I harming the new rotors by using the old pads? The wear seems quite uneven.

(here are my front slotted rotors)

(here are my rear ones)

(that is my rear rotor after test driving it around a bit, notice the thick line of wear that is toward the center of the rotor :\)

any advice would be appreciated, thx!

p.s: these rotors are brandless and ebay bought.

lol the brakes feel a bit tighter but thats about it. The ABS is on so often now. Its the first day of driving and the car is throbbing when I brake. Does this have to do with the new pads in the front in combination of the old pads in the back? I was driving on the freeway and I braked from 60-40 and the steering wheel was shaking like crazy. Is this normal o_o

You'll be okay with the old pads. What was the problem? I recently had mine done and I thought the pads were too thick and my caliper couldn't close. Then I realized that the lower pin is moveable so I used a clamp to slide it out about 1/4" and the caliper close it on the new pads just fine. If that's not your problem then take a picture of the problem maybe I could help you out!

lol thx, but the problem is that wear line in the above picture. It kind of bothers me that its wearing so much near the center of the rotor. I was just wondering if that was the result of using old pads for the rear.

No, it's not normal. It usually means one or more of the rotors is/are warped. Did you get some kind of garantee with these rotors. The first thing to do would be to check your work and make sure each of the rotors are siting squarely on the hubs. Could there be something that fell off of or on to one of the hubs when you were installing the rotors; maybe a piece of rust? I have seen that happen before. If that isn't the problem, and you don't have a garantee, you will have to take the rotors to a shop that can machine them. They can take a quick thin cut on each to determine which, if any of them are warped. When reassembling them on the car with the used pads, do what you should have originally done with the old rear pads before reusing them; that is, scuff them up with some sand paper before reinstalling them. This will give them a new surface to help seat them to the newly machined rotors.

Oh forgot, I'm not sure how much you paid for your rotors on eBay. I bought mine Brembo on eBay with Zinc plated, no rust anywhere! My old "Brembo" rust like hell all over! Hated it!

Here's the link of what I got:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/92-Ca...spagenameZWDVW

eBay Item number: 8070294446

Good luck!

OOO, sorry I didn't see the thick line near the center of the rotor. Looks like that's uneven wear from the pad. I would change it to the new ones right away before it start to put hurt on the rotor. I had my old pads on the new rotors for a day or so, nothing like yours....so becareful.

hmm. strangely its on both of the rotors on the rear. Anyway, I hope its not warped. I think there is some sort of warranty on these rotors, but perhaps its my installation error :\. The car seems fine with city driving though. As for new pads, I dont have the cash for new ones yet lol. Anyone want to buy my open boxed EBCs (dp21716)? lol. It fits some models of the new camry. Are those real brembos? From what Ive seen, a pair of brembo slotted and drilled for the 02+ camry costs around $200. Or maybe I've not searched hard enough for them lol.

oops, my bad, did not see the "drilled and slotted by DRT" Are those able to match up to the performance of brembo drilled and slotted though?

do the drilled/slotted rotors need any special brake pads? because sometimed I see ebay selling breake pad and notation of "drilled" behind the name.
