it seems that most dealers here in NJ are getting the se's fully loaded + dealer installed stuff that is making the car close to 29k. any ideas? thanks!

Fitzmall.com. Their prices are on the internet!!!!!!!!
I've looked through most of NJ, the best quote i've gotten for a Camry SE V6 is $26600 from Caldwell Toyota. However they do not have any in stock and you would have to place an order with them and god knows how long that will take. Try emailing a few places and ask for the best price. Avoid going into dealerships because they make up a lot of BS. I went into Crystal Toyota and they claim they sell out their SE V6 real fast, its been 2 weeks and I still see the same exact camry se v6 on their inventory. They BSed that they never give discounts but guess what their manager gave it to me at $27777 and I walked out and they never called me back. Good luck hunting!
that is exactly how i want mine. i dont want to place a deposit because i had a very bad experience at one dealership where they threatened to keep it if i dont buy the wrong car they ordered!
i guess i may have to drive an hr away towards delaware, pa, possible md.

If you're willing to drive to Maryland I have a salesman at the dealer I used to work with that I've sent friends and family too and he's always taken care of them. PM me if you're interested and I'll give you his name and number. Jon. p.s. check out carmax.com, edmunds.com, kbb.com and autos.msn.com for prices as well. Carmax is no hassle but sometimes dealers beat their prices by $500-$1000 depending on the car.

That is the only way to order a car is to put down a deposit. You cannot blame a dealership for that. Put in writing what you want exactly have both sides sign it, then they will honor it.

Fitzmall.com only required a $100 deposit and put in writing that I could walk away at any time and get my $100 back, even after the car is delivered to the dealer's lot!!!

Well, get one there...I was talking about dealerships. You get more from a dealership in the long run then buying online. So far I have gotten free mods and oil changes. You will not get that from a online "dealer".
I personally like to put a face to whom I am buying from....it is more human that way.
Call me old fashion...Somethings are better in person.

They are 'local' to me...relatively speaking. They sell with two prices (internet price and value price). Basically, if you are an internet buyer, they save you a few hundred by not giving you any maintenance freebies, loaner, etc...
I agree with your preference on dealing close to home. Unfortunately, none of the dealers in VA would discount when I buoght mine, and Fitz sold it to me for $600 over invoice.
