i thougt all em where made in us....i gues i am wrong what trim are the made in japanese ones are the basic model

hahaha... its funny I know the exact date... 5/22/06... the dealer called to inform me and when it should arrive. It actually arrived one day earlier than expected, with exactly one mile on it... I guess it's what I get for a custom order and bugging the dealer every 2 weeks with a phone call and an email... haha

My understanding is that the Japan made cars are mostly coming into West Coast ports so here on the East we will only see Camrys from Georgetown, KY.

I might be the exception, but my Louisville, KY purchased XLE was made in Japan. I found that rather odd.

First of all, I4 XLE ULEV, 02/2006, Japan-built #0085XX - one of the earliest I think we'll find here....

Well, at the very least you can do is "look" -- at the VIN, which is an easy way to know.

Japan-built VIN's will start with a "J." US-built VIN's will start with a "4."

Many dealers now have their new-car inventories online -- and many include the VIN in that information, too. So, it might be easy to browse around the dealers in your area online before you head out, to see if anyone has any "J-VIN" cars on their lots....

One more halfway-unrelated tidbit for everyone: My dealer guys mentioned to me that they've got every single Hybrid they're allocated to get at least through the rest of the year already "spoken for" on their waiting list. We may never see a Hybrid just sitting on the lot waiting for a buyer to wander in, at least in my area!

Still a number on fitzmall.com and two for sale on EBAY.

Probably in the watermelon (green on the outside, red on the inside) states of WA, OR, CA they are in short supply

#006122....that is what my VIN ends with (US made, 3/06 as mentioned above). Is the 6122 the production sequence number, meaning that 6,000+ cars were built before mine?
