"Only drove it on weekends," eh?"

Have you had any work done to you trans ?
I did, they had to replaced the shift solenoids, because it was not working properly, and how do you know that my car is doing exactly what yours did?
Did your car feel like when driving a standard transmission and the clutch was just sliping and not grabing?
About making it a "federal case out of it and them some".... not jet...
About getting used to the throtle by wire, I have driven many kinds of cars including many w/ throttle by wire, the 2 last rental cars I had for about 5 days were 06 Camry and I believe they have it, and there was no hesitation whatsoever on them compare to what my car feels like.
The reason I stated that I was driving the car on weekends is because I have started to drive it to work daily.
While car shopping a few months ago I drove both the SE I4 and the V6. I noticed hesitation in both but not to the degree you mention. Are you flooring it each time or massaging the pedal. I find the latter works a lot better. I bought the V6 and there is a slight hesitation because of the drive-by-wire technology. I've had a turbo-4banger in the past so this is nothing new to me. Keep the pressure on the dealer if you feel you're right!

The drive by wire seems to be the culprit

I got the first red SE 4 cyl auto C package (loaded unit) that arrived in southern Ontario so I assume it was a very early built unit. Due to too many vehicles on my policy and the fact that I didn't really need it, it sat unplated in one of my garages for 2 months. After reading posts on this site for those two months I was wondering why I had gone for the 4 banger in auto, but after I got it on the road I have experienced zero hesitating and zero gear hunting. Even up steep hills on cruise the auto tranny/computer works wonderfully. I have been pleasantly surprised by this car. After I got 1000 km on it I drove it down to Lexington and then Pittsburgh and home thru Buffalo. It was great. AC on all the way and it made no difference. Highly recommend the tour inside the Camry/Avalon/Solara assembly plant.

well... i'm sure that the rep. you spoke with isn't very reliable. why not speak to another rep., call toyota again and tell them your problem. maybe you'll be able to get a better rep. on your case.

fyi: my car was in service for over 2 months waiting for a small part, but my toyota rep. did keep in touch with me every week about where the part was at. i have worst experience at the dealership trying to get the tech. to look at my camry 'cause they "think" it's ok. i felt that it's not something normal, so i took back for repair.
