5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
What reactions have you gotten from people as you've driven your '07?
^^^^ I parked my SEV6 where Ic ould see it froma distance and so while I was eating at Taco Bell this one guy kept on looking at it as he passed by, and when he got in his car he even turned around to get a closer look
My favorite reaction was from the Euro-trash in his 330xi as he watched my rear end for 5 minutes after losing a merge battle (faster car gets the lane).

my hubby and i were walking back to my camry from circuit city and a cop came hauling ass thru the parking lot and stopped right next to my driver's side door. i was freaking out b/c you know...it's the po-po and all...but he was cool and asked if my car was the new 07 b/c his wife is really wanting one and he hadn't had the chance to see one in person.
i also get a lot of people telling me it looks like a mercedes or a bmw.
I get looks all the time. Especially when I am stuck in traffic. I had a guy in a 06 Pacifica with real nice rims check me out and give me the thumbs up sign.
My wife's family (Hard Core GM buyers) all have stated how "nice" this Toyota is. They did not know what it was at first. Then they said "ohh a Toyota"...then they sat inside and was impressed. They were thinking it would be all cramped and uncomfortable. They loved the ergonomics of the Camry. This was the same day my one Brother in Law had his 06 Impala SS over too. He paid 10K more for that car and his Sunroof still goes over the top of his vehicle. I never understood why GM would put in such a cheap Sunroof.

Besides the family liking it, I got some looks in the parking lot, with people checking back after a few seconds...but over all (maybe its just me) it seems that I don't get as much "respect" on the road as I did in my previous cars...case in point, traveling in the left hand lane (prob. up to 75-80mph) and I have people come up behind me and flash me the high beams, only to change lanes and the car would go no where, WHY HIGH BEAM?. I sware either I am imagining this or it really does happen a lot more in this car. Another example (like stated earlier by someone about a merge) I have a lot more people TRYING to cut me off in traffic...I sit on line waiting to get on a bridge after a toll and people just think they can cut right in front of me A LOT, again I don't know if its in my head or its because they see its a camry...who knows...I think its in my head
I noticed that alot of teenagers started to like new Camrys (those kid who were only into BMW or Mercedes or sport cars) never saw people talking like that about Camrys
I'm in a Gen 5 but I saw a red Camry (not even an SE) around town and I can't help but stare at it every time it goes by. I envy you Gen 6 owners. LOL. I'm just kidding. Keep turning heads.

Always got something else in mind...
Not an 07 owner, but I have a 99. Regardless though, I think the new Cams are dead sexy. I see them quite often on my way home from work and always try to get pics of them with my phone. Same thing with the IS-2 & 350s (an Chrysler 300's, but thats a different story). I just think they are gorgeous, especially from the back.

I think my Camry is good looking. But honestly, I have been looking at other driver's face and I can tell most of them are NOT checking my Camry out. No kidding. People AREN'T surpised to see the new Camry. When I told people that I bought a new Camry. There isn't any interest in seeing the car. The best compliment I got after seeing me driving a Camry is, "Is that an Avalon?".
Speaking of BMW. I parked my Silver Camry next to a late model Silver BMW one day. I was surprised how similar they look.

IMHO, it is the SE that gets the looks.

COMMENT: "Excuse me. I was wondering if I could sit inside your car? I saw it earlier when I was going to work and I walked around it and was looking at it. I just wanted to see the inside. This is a very nice car. I have this Accord and I was thinking about getting a new car and I heard about these new Camry's."
DETAILS: I was parked in a garage at a Metro station and when I was walking to my car, the person parked next to me was heading to her car too. When she noticed me getting into my Camry she stopped me and was very eager to see the inside. I let her turn on the car so she could see the blue lighted interior and she was in amazement!

COMMENT: "That a really nice car man!"
DETAILS: This happened outside of a restaurant by Arundel Mills Mall. The guy was checking out my car from the moment I pulled into the parking lot.
****************
COMMENT: "I love your car! I pulled up behind you and saw it said Camry. Then I had to drive around you to see it from the side then I pulled in front of you to see the front then I drove around to the other side. I can't believe that's a Camry! It doesn't look like how a Camry should look!"
DETAILS: This happened while driving through Washington, DC and I was stopped at a red light.
****************
COMMENT: "Thats a REALLY nice car!"
DETAILS: This happened as I pulled into a subway station picking up a friend of mine. As I was leaving the station I had to pass by a huge crowd of people and it was like a commercial...EVERYONE'S face turned and followed my car until I disappeared!
****************
COMMENT: "I was checking out your car. Very nice! So this is the new Camry, huh? Congrats. Really nice."
DETAILS: My car was parked outside my job at a federal agency and I had just got inside to leave work for the day. A man passed by and I saw him checking out my car and he said something and gave me a thumbs up but I couldnt hear him because my window was up so I honked at him and he actually came back and asked me to roll down my window and he just started singing praises!
****************
COMMENT: "Hey, did you put those blue lights inside your car yourself? It CAME like that?! Oh, wow! Thats tight man. Thats really nice yo!"
DETAILS: I was at a gas station one night at the convenience mart and a group of guys came walking up and one of them pointed to my car and everyone looked and the one you initially pointed out my car asked me to roll my window down and thats when he asked me the question.
****************
COMMENT: "I really like your color. That's a nice color, man."
DETAILS: I was at a stoplight and a truck was next to me and the man had his window down and I caught him staring at my car. When he saw me looking, thats when he made the comment.
****************
MISC: There have been several other times when I've caught people literally doing a 360 around my car checking it out. I've seen this about 3 times. I've seen people in BMWs breaking their necks to see my car. A person who just bought an '06 Accord literally stopped traffic when he pulled up next to me in the middle of the street to stare at my car...then he pulled up a little bit to see my front end. I've seen dozens of other people breaking their necks to look at my car when they pull up next to me at a stoplight. Today alone, I was on a little outting and I saw at least 3 different people pull up behind and I could tell they were having a conversation about my car. You could see them making all sorts of hand guestures and looking at each other, then back to my car, then back to each other. People are nuts about my car. The compliments keep pouring in.
