2007 Maintenance question

My 2007 Camry is getting close to 15,000 miles. Does anyone know what is included on the 15,000 mile service? My dealer is being very general over the phone. Anyone had this done yet? Anyone know what all is included?

Thanks

15,000 miles or 18 months

Replace engine oil and oil filter 1 Rotate tires Clean cabin air filter Visually inspect brake linings/drums and brake pads/discs Inspect the following: Ball joints and dust covers Brake lines and hoses Drive shaft boots Engine coolant 3 Exhaust pipes and mountings Steering gear box Steering linkage and boots Note: Driving in heavy traffic, on dirt roads or in urban, dusty or desert areas may shorten the life of the cabin air filter. Replacement may be needed if you notice reduced air flow from the air conditioner and heater or if the windows fog easily when you use the "fresh" mode. Consult your dealer if any of these conditions occur.
Additional Maintenance Items for Special Operating Conditions:

Driving While Towing Tighten nuts and bolts on chassis Driving in Desert or On Dirt Roads Inspect engine air filter Tighten nuts and bolts on chassis Applicable Footnotes:1) Reset the oil replacement reminder (“MAINT REQD”) light after replacing engine oil, if vehicle is equipped with this light.
3) See Maintenance Definitions (Engine Coolant) for details.

Forget It

Dealers like to sell those overpriced packages but if you look closely most of it is just checking and not a lot of changing. If you are on regular oil, make sure you change it every 5,000 miles at the most, i.e. 5k, 10k, 15k. Rotate and balance your tires every 5k, air filter every 10k and get an alignment every 10k or 15k. Your first major service is at 30,000 miles which is when you should get your Engine Coolant flush, transmission and differential fluid flush and brake fluid flush. Some people say drain and fill for the aforementioned items but to me I'd rather know it's all new fluid for another 30,000 miles. Jon.

15K miles on 07 Camry... You must drive alot.
I think just follow the owners manual and for safety change the transmission fluid at 30K miles (even though in your transmission dipstick might say "no need to change transmission fluid under normal driving condition").

That is my same reaction...how many miles do you drive a day. When did you purchase the car?

I'm an ASM at a toyota dealership. the 15k service is basically just and oil change, rotate and balance tires, replace wiper inserts. inspect air and cabin filter replaced if needed. toyota recommends to replace both filters around 15k. inspect PCV valve etc. things that you can honestly due at home. but it is better to get done at a dealership.

My local Toyota dealer has a special for 15K miles service. It has oil change, oil filter change. Tire rotation and pressure check (no balancing). Inspect this and inspect that. All for a low, low price of $188.

I have to be moron to buy that.

That guy must be doing a lot of driving daily because 15k miles is a lot for a vehicle that has nearly 3-5 months in the market, i got my camry on april 26th and i have 2,218 miles right now.

I have a total of 2,218 miles in 7 weeks, what about you all GEN 6 owners?

Question OK, so what should we do when?

Well, in going through my owner's manual, I was pretty much mind-boggled about how it basically doesn't recommend that you do much of ANYTHING until after 100,000 miles!

No transmission fluid changes, no cooling system changes, just about nothing but some inspections, beyond the usual oil and filter changes.

I'd like to be a LITTLE more pro-active than that, so what do you think? Transmission fluid changes every x number of miles? Anything you'd recommend doing every 30,000 miles, 50,000 miles, or whatever? Let us know what you think!

yup, it sounds a little crazy but when I checked my 06 solara (similar drivetrain with 07 4 cyl camry), there is no required maintainance for transmission and cooling until you reach 100K miles.
Open the hood, there is a sticker near the radiator cap saying there is no need to replace coolant until you reach 100K miles and use Toyota coolant only. Transmission dipstick also saying that we never need to change transmission fluid under normal driving condition.
I'm not making a bet on my car, I will change the transmission fluid at 30K miles and coolant probably at 50K miles.

I had a bad experience with GM dexcool, they said that it should last 120K miles, I followed the 120K miles recommendation and my engine overheated at around 80K miles (flushed the cooling system fixed it).

The original poster has 2 posts total. Both were identical. One in this Camry forum, and one in the Highlander forum. I am just saying...

Service Schedule

For all my years around the Camry community (1992) and talking to various mechanics, service advisors, etc I've come up with a real easy service schedule. Every 5k, oil change and rotation and balance. Every 10k, alignment and air filter. Every 30k, engine coolant flush, transmission flush, and brake fluid flush. Every 60k, power steering flush, tune up, fuel filter and pcv valve. Every 90k, thermostat, timing belt, water pump. Jon.

Technologies improve over time. You should not use knowledge 15 years ago to service a 2007 car. I don't understand why people don't trust their owner's manual. It is written by the company that design and build the car. All mechanics/shops, dealers included, has a vested interest in making you go back more frequently.

Wow, 100,000 miles before coolant or ATF. I can appreciate that.
