What are the window deflectors for? To lower the wind noise around the windows?

They're so you can open your windows a little for ventilation without rain or snow coming in.
Is this mainly for smokers or do people really want their windows open 365 days a year (ie when it's raining/snowing)? Just curious as I've never seen a car in person with them.

They allow slightly window-open for air recirculate to help defogging as raining/snowing or to avoid over-heating interior such as leather.
I personally like those vents that fit inside the window channel instead of taping. More info is here:
I just purchased a set through Weathertech after I logged out last night. Front & Rear set $89.95 plus $12 shipping. Not cheap, but well worth the price in the long run.

the majority of cars i see them on are b/c the driver smokes. i don't smoke in my car, but i think it's a great idea that you can have your window cracked and no rain comes in.
i never liked them before on cars b/c they stick out too far. but i think the ones on the camry look waaaaay better.
