Gen6 2007 Seat Belt chime......I know I know

I know this has been hashed and rehashed a billion times however,

My dealer refuses to disarm this feature in fear that he would be liable in a accident. Has anyone discovered a way to turn off the chime in a 2007 camry. The next closest dealer to me is about an hour and a half drive a way.

Also has anyone figured out a way to disable DRL when in the auto position. My dealer refuses to turn this off too. He said that daytime running lamps are a safety feature and he will not disarm them.

I had to scrape and scream to get them to adjust my auto light sensor on the dash so that it was not so sensitive.

Has anyone else had so much buck-back from their dealer to get stuff like this tweaked?

Why do you want to disable DRL when it is in auto? Wouldn't it be just like turning it to off?

I think he wants the AUTO function of the headlights without the DRL being on during the day. If you don't like the yellow DRL, just replace your high beams (DRL runs on 15-30% of the highbeams) with a super white bulb. Or you can just turn off the DRL like you wanted.

According to the manual (toyotaiguide.com), the automatic headlamp (DRL) 's sensitivity and auto-off delay can be programmed. It just didn't say how.

Yes I just told the tech working on my car how annoying that damn seatbelt chime was. He said "you know i can turn that off right?"

I said "really dude that would be awesome."

And he did it. Now here is a question........I think I still want to get my DRL disabled when the switch is in the AUTO position. Won't running my highbeams at 15% power for the DRL drastically reduce the life of my bulbs? Damn aftermarkets are too expensive to be blowing every 3 months. Of course I never use my high beams so I guess it would be ok. What do you guys think?

What kind of dealership do you go to where you actually talk with the tech/mechanic? At the dealerships in my area, you deal with a service writer that works the customer interface portion of the service operation...the techs never come out front.

Walk back there. I do. At my dealership there is a smoking area behind the shop. This is where the salesmen smoke. The door is open to the shop there...I always take a "walk through"...hehe Plus they have got to know me for my generousity. (I have given them all sorts of imported chocolates). They know my car from sight and they also know I am fair but ANAL.
