Gen6 Disabling Door Chirp

Having searched the forum and not finding anything on the subject, I wondered if anyone has disabled the electronic "chirp" that sounds when locking or unlocking the doors. Other than going to the dealer, is there a way to DIY?

Thanks in advance.

I've been waiting for someone to answer your post too - i'd be happy to disable the useless buzzer - i have actually tried this on other cars by pulling fuses and trying to find the noisemaker part etc. but never had any luck on any. They always wire the fuse up along with something important like the dash lights so you cant just pull it, and also they seem to bury the dam noisemaker deep under the dash and can never find it. So i just take the wither on the vine approach and wait for the damn thing to wear out but they never do. Argg.

It is a dealer-configurable option (unfortunately I don't think you can DIY unless you have the OBD tool). They need to use their settings tool (plugs into the OBD-II port). The settings are under the Remote Keyless menu item, under "Tone Response". The Default is "ON". The available settings are "OFF" and "ON".

See the Camry iGuide at www.ToyotaIGuide.com under "Other Features" : "Customizable Electronic Features".

My dealer changed a bunch of settings for me for no charge right after I bought the car. The biggest one for me was the "mind of its own" AC and Recirc functions. Now, whatever I had it set on when turning off the car it will remain in that state when starting up next.
