Gen6 Toyota dealer parts prices "OUCH"

My SE didn't Come with the auto-dimming rear view mirror W/compass. I called today to get a price for one at my dealer. They quoted me a price of $600+ . Then they told me it wouldn't work unless I had the navigation system. I contacted Purich Inc. who had installed a sunroof for me years ago in my pickup. They quoted me a $350 price installed for an autodimming mirror w/compass and temperature readings. Since they are only fifteen minutes away from me I drove over there and checked it out. Looks great! Having it installed next week. They now have a website in case anyone in the NY metro area is interested, They also do custom interior work on Toyota Camrys' www.electricsunroof.com

Lexus is just as bad.
My daughter just bought a IS 250 and the dealer wanted $695+ tax for an installed lip spoiler.
I got a Lexus one for her off EBay for $192 delivered.
The spoiler smaller than the '07 Camry spoiler.

Would depend on the dealership. Get to know the Service Manager. They are human and they can over-ride the "list prices"...I know mine has on more then one thing.

Awww...man.
There are a ton of them on Ebay for $150 - $200. GENTEX brand, which is the same mirror in the Chevrolets, etc. I am looking to buy one of them myself.
You didn't want to install it yourself?

Even their prices on the all-weather floormats are crazy.

My Toyota dealership charges full list on many parts and accessories. This is how they make profit. The other poster is right, E-Bay has many genuine Toyota parts for sale for much lower than your local dealer.

i bought the auto dimming mirror with compass and temperature for $129 on ebay, came with temp sensors and wirings, installed it myself, 1/2hour to 1 hour job, works fine, but now the problem is, interrior rear view mirror is auto dimmed, but outside side mirrors are not, still getting blind from people who don't have the headlight aimed correctly. My lexus came with auto dim, and i don't get glare from either side of the mirrors nor the rear view.

You can always get those auto-dimming side mirrors like the ones found on the BMWs. But as of right now, there might not be a company that makes direct replacement for the Gen6.

If I think the dealer would have a crappy prices, I'll order them online at wholesale. I have went into the dealer with a comparable "eBay price with shipping" and they have beat that a few times.

If you can't buy it on EBAY, try all the discount Toyota parts dealers. About 30% off list price.

The temp won't work unless they tie into the existing Toyota temp readout wiring.
