2007 Camry Navigation Override

Hey guys--

My girlfriend just bought a 2007 Camry XLE V6 w/ Nav & I was wondering if anyone has tried out the override for programming the navigation while driving?

I will see her this weekend, and I would like to surprise her with a trick for overriding the navigation system to allow programming while driving. (Software based - No wire cutting / modifications required!)

Here's a link to a previous post showing the procedure on the previous generation navigation systems:
http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t88114.html

Could someone please try this and post a reply if it works or not?

Thanks
--Antonio

I can't help you with the navigation problem without modding it, but on my Celica I had an indash dvd player professionally installed, which means they set it up where you can't watch dvds while in motion. To get around this, I remove the wires grounded to the emergency brake and grounded it somewhere else. Not sure if this would work, so don't get you're hopes up. You can always try though.

I'm not trying to sound condescending, but did you ever consider that perhaps Toyota's thinking in designing and programming the nav system in this way was a good thing? One wrong move out there and she, you, or some innocent bystander is dead. We're already distracted enough with sound systems, cell phones, etc. I'd leave well enough alone, but that's just me. BTW, I use a hand-held GPS unit that clips to a bracket (not as graceful as the factory installed unit, but 10% of the cost...). I don't mess with it on the move.

2007 Camry Override

Go to the volume screen:

Upper left
Lower left
Upper left
Lower left

Push and hold "override" until it changes color.

One stroke less than my '04 4Runner. Toyota is a bit overly cautious at times and IMO (as well as many others) this is a necessary function at times, even if just for the passenger to be able to input while in motion.

So ive been told that the Camry OEM Nav does not play dvd movies, ect. Does over riding it provide it with this feature while driving as well?

Note this only is applicable to the 5.1 loading.kwi file dvd's. Nothing newer allows this unless it is a hacked merged dvd usning 5.1 and new maps. So 2008 and newer are a no go.

Doesn't seem to work on my 2007 TCH with stock Navi. Just does not display the service screen at all.
