Gen6 Customizable Electronic Features

Hi All,

Just took delivery of my new 07 XLE V6. 60 miles on the car and I'm really liking it.

So here's the question: on another thread, Toyota's online "iGuide" was mentioned (www.toyotaiguide.com for the curious). In the iGuide for the 07 Camry is a section called "Other Features : Customizable Electronic Features", where it lists all the things that can be programmed (or de-programmed) such as lighting entry timers, automated AC functions, keyless entry behaviors, etc.

The only problem is, it tells you all the features and options, but nothing on how to manipulate the actual configuration settings.

Is this something that has to be done at a dealer, or is there some hidden feature of, say, the radio unit where these items can be programmed?

Specifically, I dislike the constant turning on the "recirc" mode every time I start the car if I've left the AC on the last time I was in it. I'm perfectly capable of figuring out when I want the air recirculated, and will happy expend the manual effort required to negotiate such a feature without Toyota doing it for me every time I start the car.

The dealer can change quite a number of the parameters listed in the iGuide using an Intelligent tester.

If you want them done it would be best to get them all done at once to save you $$$$$.

If you don't mind me asking, which plant did your Camry come from?

VIN starts with "J", so I'm assuming it's a Japanese car? I say that only because I vaguely recall reading another thread that said VIN starting with J = Japan.
