07 Camry - not so quiet

Purchased a 07 Camry LE 4 cyl. I had rented a 06 Camry and was impressed with the quiet comfortable ride. I thought the 07 would be at least as quiet but I am finding that is not the case. At lower speeds it is fine but at highway speed the wind noise is very noticable and even the road noise seems greater than the 06 model I drove. Over the weekend I put about 600 miles on a 06 Altima and the wind noise was much more suppressed than the Camry. What gives? Anyone else experience this? I don't see any problems with the door / window seals. Even my 96 Mazda Millenia S seems quieter on the highway.

Mine is quiet with no discernible wind noise up to as fast as I've had it - 90 mph. Each week since March, I've driven a number of miles at 70-77 mph.

Having the moonroof tipped open is noisy though.

You should look into the Vehicle Shield Package. It helps reduce road/wind noise.

hmmm... i've driven an 06, but i felt that the quietness was comparable to 07. a couple of suggestion for you: get undercoating rust protection (reduce 20% road noise) or the acoustic windsheild. i'm waiting for my windshield to have rock chip, then i'll change my windsheild. i hate hearing road noises, so i understand how you feel as well.

I cannot imagine a windshield making a significant difference in the noise levels but then I haven't done a comparison so I could be wrong. Should be standard if it really works. Undercoating is a possibility but it will not reduce wind noise. Has anyone had the wind noise problem, taken their vehicle to the dealer and the dealer was actually able to do something to help? Not sure if there is a problem or if this is just the nature of the beast. It is just hard to believe Toyota would redesign the Camry and then come out with a vehicle not as quiet as the old model. I am taking the car to the dealer today to have an interior piece replaced so will bring the wind noise problem up and see what happens.

our 07 is super quiet too at the speeds we have had it. I have noticed a little more growl from the engine than my 98, which I like - makes it sound more sporty.

Mine is only noisy when I step on the gas from a stop. (I4) You might want to look at what kind of tires you have. Thye also could add to noise.

the only thing i am upset at the 4 banger is that engine at full throttle is loud as a mother... i had a new accord and it was Xtremely hushed when at full throttle... but i wouldnt mind if an intake will change it to a meaner growl at full throttle.. also has anyone noticed on auto 4 bangers that when punching it at a dead stop it takes a while for rpm to kik high? auto celicas have the same problem...

Don't you road test a car model before you buy it. Take it on the highway and over bumpy roads, floor it to see how it moves and sounds and brakes under pressure?

My wife just called me from the dealership. They told her they are having a lot of complaints about the wind noise. They suggested we contact them again in about a month as they expect to hear something from Toyota regarding this. It could have something to do with the side mirrors. Interesting, I don't know if they were just trying to get rid of us and hope we don't follow up or if there really is an issue that Toyota is aware of. Anyone else hear anything about this??

No, I don't recall hearing anything about it nor did I have any audible wind noise with my '07 SE. Two weeks ago I added side window deflectors and expected to hear some wind noise then. So far no wind noise
