5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I'm going through a divorce, and have to choose which one of our cars to give to my soon to be ex and which one to keep. Choice # 1 an 06 Acura RL 18,000 miles all the toys been in two accidents (minor) 17 mpg, Choice # 2 my 07 Camry LE (SE wanna-be). She wants the RL (of course), I think I'll give in and keep the LE. The RL is a great looking car, but it is a rattle box, the gadgets and toys are nice but who the heck needs all that junk. I think It's too much of a car for her (she doesn't even know how to turn on the radio) . After this is all signed sealed and delivered she'll probally trade the RL in for a civic. Just as long everyone is happy.

Give her the RL and stuff all of the vents with fish and remove the jack. Of course, only do this if you really don't like her.

lol... i would personally take the RL and trade it for a real se after all, the RL is worth more than an LE camry although i totally love camry. just imagine what you can have for your camry se... v6, nav, leather, sunroof, etc... loaded if you trade the RL. all of this kinda depend on who pays for what. if you put more money on the car, then you should get the rl. also, since she's going to trade it for a civic, it means that she just wants the car that worth more.... so fight for what you deserve!!

Thanx for the advice, but I'd rather give her what she wants (the RL) instead of fighting for it (because of the added lawyer fees that would take to get it.) Anyway I got the house and the dog. Sounds like a good deal too me. Regards to all

Sorry to hear about the divorce. But I would go with your gut instinct. If she wants the RL and you think it is best to give her the RL... then go for it. It seems like you're happy with the LE. Hopefully this can help make the divorce easier for you two. I'm not a big fan of divorces, but hey, if you're both happy, than so be it. Leave on good terms... not worse. You don't want an ex to have a major grudge on you and you have to look over your shoulder every minute thinking that she'll come back at you (or your car) with an ax or soemthing... hehe just playing with you!
The RL is a great looking car, but it is a rattle box....
Wow! I'll admit to a considerable amount of RL lust, but that too is another Honda rattletrap?!??? I bailed out of a 2003 Accord EX-L coupe that just drove me so nuts with all of the rattles and the interior bits falling apart that I ate some negative equity to get into my Camry.
Man, I thought my opinion of Honda was already as low as it could go, but if their top of the line flagship is a rattletrap POS, too, well, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!
Yes the RL right from the git go had rattles, tranny problems, leak in the moon roof, and a few other minor stuff. The first 2 months it was in and out of the shop 11 times, but still it drove like a dream, a great road car. My wife had two minor accidents one front end and one rear end after that she felt really safe in it, another reason she wants it. But I've always had camry's since my 95 2 door and have always been satisfied, they're easy to fix, parts are easy to find and they are dependable. I got the LE because I didn't want to wait 6-8 weeks for an SE now I wish I waited, but so far I am pleased with it. But now I'm just trying to make it a little more sporty looking by adding some SE stuff. Marriage is one big gamble, no one wins but the lawyers at $225 an hour. PS I'm not a lawyer basher.
