05 camry cd problems

i have been having some problems with the cd player. the cd player sometimes skips and somewtimes it makes a noise like the cd is hitting something or its bouncing up and down ("tiik,tiik..."). i cleaned the cd and thats not the problem sometimes there's a sharp hitting sound comming from the speakers while the cd is playing (a sharp tick like tapping into a microphone.) the dealer said the reason for the skipping might be fog or moisture is in the cd player. and today i got an Error 1 message while putting in a cd but it went away later. some help please.

Toyota put out a test CD some time back to aid the dealer in checking the player. As such, defective CD players are more common then you think. The players are manufactured by third part sources for Toyota, some are better then others. If the players operation is getting worse and the car is still under warranty, you might attempt to get the dealer to replace it. One day the E1 code may not go away and the repair costs may be more then a new one.

I live in New Hampshire and have an 2005 LE model. I bought the car new and have not yet had any problems. I have the extended bumper to bumper warranty that covers any issues with any and all electronics.

So far I've gone two winters with the vehicle and have not had any problems with the CD player.
