good choice! i can't wait to redo my retro with TSX's and OEM headlights this spring... my current depo headlights are ok but still have that cheap feeling.

to "disable" the DRL activation of the solenoid, use two 5 pin relays. one relay switches the ground for the solenoid and is activated by the low beam or parking light. the other relay switches the positive for the solenoid and is activated by the high beam (this second relay may not be necessary... you can tap the high beam positive for the solenoid positive if 12 V is ok). by doing it this way, when DRL is on and low beams/parking lights are off, there is no ground to the solenoid. when low beams/parking lights are on (ground to the solenoid is on) and you hit the highs (positive to solenoid is on), you get "holy shit, thats a lot of light" mode... aka overkill

good luck with the bi-xenon retrofit... could be difficult fitting the solenoid in.

Thanks! Definitely gave me some ideas! I can't visualize the setup you've proposed yet, but I thought of something simple. It looks like I'm going to use two relays to 'disable' the activation of the solenoids by the DRLs. It'll require that both 9006 and 9005 are on to power the solenoid, else off; basic series kind of thing. Anything wrong with this set-up?

looks good, pretty much the same idea i had. what i described was basically your setup, but "paralleling" the relays, one for pos, the other for ground. if you find out what voltage the solenoid is ok for, you may be able to get away with one relay on the neg side and just plug into the stock high beam harness for the pos.

So it looks like I'll be using two relays total. The wiring looks like...

*ground wires omitted for simplicity of diagram
DRLs won't switch solenoids, because low beams won't be on during DRL.
Low beams alone won't switch solenoids, because relay on right won't be on.

I've seen Fuse 1 = 30A, Fuse 2 = Fuse 3 = 15A.
Are these numbers okay?
Will I need to change the values and/or put in more fuses because of the solenoid circuit?

numbers look ok... you won't need to go any higher than 15A for the ballast fuses or 30A for the battery feed fuse. solenoids do not draw that much power... you may wish to put a fuse on the solenoids anyway just in case, but its highly unlikely that you'll need them.
