Gen6 Would you still buy one?

With some of you experiencing poor MPG results on the I4, the transmission issues on the V6, drive by wire hesitation problems and somewhat deminished quality. I would like to know if you had to do it all over again, would you still buy the 2007 Camry?

...that's a tough question....

I love the redesign of the Camry, but powertrain is horrible! I loved my '03 Tundra V6, which I traded in for the Camry, and now I'm regretting doing so.

Well I think you'd want to buy it again..........you just wouldnt buy it right when it first came out. Thats the thing with everything brand new you shouldnt rush in and get one while it's hot, because there are always things that need to be worked out.

I think your question is very irrelevant. EVERY car have some issues when it is redesigned, I don't see how this could change someone's mind to not buy a Camry. Of course it MAY make them not buy a car in the first few months it is introduced. You should also take into account the number of Camrys being sold and the number of problem incidents you are referring to.

I presonally think this is the best Camry ever as they have given the new generation the "personality" it was lacking in previous ones. And I have to say that, I would not buy a Camry if it was only for it's reliablity! I considered buying the Camry SE since all the ingrediants were in place, those are Reliability, Design, Resudual Value and you migt call Character and I think the new gerenation Camry has all of them.

So go ahead and buy a Camry, but if you doubt it's reliability I suggest you wait a year or so till all the defects are uncovered and resolved.

good luck

I agree with CarAddict, I would wait until they get most of the issues generated by a brand new design resolved. About buy it again, mmmm I don't know, I have to see what kind of design they have a that time. Me personally I never had a Toyota in my live, I never drove one before, I don't know anybody who has one, I needed to get a car for me and my first chice was a Honda Accord but my wife and I were looking at a Lexus for the her, and I fell in love with de design of the camry.

Gen5 Wait a couple of years

I agree with the previous posters. I LOVE the new design of the Camry, but will wait until 2008-2009 to purchase so that most of the bugs get worked out.

I think this is a completely irrelevant question. NOT EVERYONE has had problems with their Camry. You need to remember that these issues are only a VERY small portion of the Camry's that have thusfar been sold. Would I buy a Camry again? Yeah, I would in a heartbeat. Look at the big picture, because you are (like many others) blowing this WAY out of proportion.

Well if you read my post I did use the word SOME which the last time I checked it did not mean EVERY as you seem to think I'm implying.

Obviously if your new Camry has no issues you would find this question "irrelevant". But if you're having problems or things aren't working as you hoped for you might be someone that wishes he/she had waited or bought something else.

Again, my questions is aimed at those who are somewhat disappointed in their 2007 Camry and whether or not they would make the same decission.

I owned an older Audi before buying the toyota..

The audi is definatley better than the toyota everyway cept reliability..

i bought my 1st toyota in june and i got it for reliability and the fact that repairs on german cars are much more expensive than on japanese..

The toyota is also an excuse for me to buy a Motorcycle for next summer etc.

Do it over again? I think i'd still buy a camry, and i hate the other camry looks so i'd probably still get a 4 banger 5spd camry

I'm havin fun now more than ever.. NEW cars manual!! i drive without the clutch and i get no chirps or wierd noises its heaven compared to my audi.. its just not as sporty

I would still get it, but I prefer the Legacy GT over the Camry SEV6 since it's the same price range.

Not because of all the problems, mainly because I've wanted a Legacy.

Gotta love the Legacy's AWD system and factory turbo.

I don't care how long a design is out, they ALL have issues of some kind. Every car has problems, always have, always will.

Interesting though, I have a couple of very very minor issues that I'd like to get taken care of. NOTHING major though, some on here go overboard on what a "issue" really is. My car gets me to work everyday and by no means to I not feel safe in it. Little dash creaks and pillar creaks are so minor that they shouldn't even be filed as a problem but an annoyance.

The question is how long do you have to wait till they work that bugs out? Would 6 month after the beginning of production be better? What about 12 month?

Question: is it possible to order Camry that comes from Japan or they all manufactured in US now?

They're still coming from Japan. I was at the dealer yesturday and te 2 Camry's they got in yesturday were from Japan.

As for when to buy.... Usually you want to do it after the 1st model year, so the '08 should have all the bugs worked out. Sometimes if problems are bad enough, they'll make changes mid year.
