Gen6 Driving Habit Automatic

This is my first car in automatic. I used to have manual transmission all the time. I just wondering if my driving habit of putting to "neutral" and put in "D" while the car runs will effect my MPG or will brake my transmission ? I usually do this when the car running down slope.

its not good and can be dangerous to leave a car rolling in neutral...

automatic cars are designed to go and stop in D gear...just let it do its work...i don't believe you get better fuel economy by changing it to N everytime youstop a tthe traffic light.

you're also putting extra strain on your transmission switching from D to N all the time. i wouldn't do it unless i'm at a long stop light. and even though its not entirely damaging to your transmission to put into N on slopes... its still dangerous. you may have control of your car... but what about things outside of your control?
