What I like about my 2007 Camry

1. Value
2. Body Style
3. Smooth/Quite Ride
4. V6 power
5. Fuel economy (good for a V6) If I keep my foot out of it......

Maybe the V6 power should be number 1!

There's a lot. Let me do a numbered list:
  1. New bodystyle
  2. Interior layout
  3. Exterior color choice
  4. 6-Disc In-Dash CD changer
  5. 440 wattt stereo
  6. Love the power and acceleration of my I4 (when that hesistation crap isn't in question)
  7. Love the "luxury" feel of the car
  8. Love the handsfree bluetooth feature

I have an I4 Blue Ribbon XLE.

1. Exterior styling:

2. Interior luxury:

3. Smooth, quiet ride.

4. Very competent handling. No, it's not a sports car, but it handles well more than competently through the twisties. It has a very stable, "planted" feel while cornering. Truly, an impressive combination of ride and handling.

5. Fuel economy. To have this kind of ride and luxury and power and close to economy-car gas mileage is exactly what I was looking for. For me, it's about the closest I could get to a "four-cylinder Lexus," which is exactly what I was looking for. I just don't see the need for a six-cylinder engine -- I've never ever felt the need for more power than this four-cylinder engine can deliver.

6. Toyota quality. True, it will take time for this to bear out, but I expect this Camry to be as reliable as all of the other Toyotas I've had -- essentially bulletproof. Yeah, some folks are having problems with the V6 transmission, but that's again part of why I wanted the four-cylinder, with its "tried and tested" powertrain.

7. Things are just "right." Stuff like how the tires have "a lot of tire" to them -- I don't want low-profile rough-riding tires, thank you. Stuff like the amber turn signals -- I'm just amazed how some companies, like Honda, are turning away from amber turn signals! I think they are about 1,000% more visible than red turn signals, and I'm glad to have them back there warning the other drivers about what I'm going to do. Stuff like the projector headlights, the neat "three in a row" similar-sized signal light / low beam / high beam elements in the headlight fixtures. Stuff like the REALLY POWERFUL fog lights. Stuff like how I can control the lights, including turning them off altogether should I so desire -- I can choose to drive with the lowered-power high-beam DRL's, or the low beams with the PIAA Xtreme White bulbs I installed, or with everything off -- you can't do that with too many cars these days! Stuff like the gas-filled hood supports -- no cheesy prop rods here! Stuff like the foot-pedal parking brake -- how nice to get that dang thing out of the very middle of the car's interior!! And so on....

8. JBL 440-watt stereo system. Not that I care about the "power" of the thing, but it's simply, by far, the best-sounding system I've ever had in a car. The true "tuned for the car's acoustics" ambience of the system is just wonderful. And, the fact that it can play MP3 and WMA files means that, with six discs filled with such files, you've got the equivalent of a 4-gigabyte iPod Nano or such device. If not more, if you want to squeeze your bit rates.

9. Safety. I considered some used cars, and some smaller cars, but I figured the state-of-the-art safety systems in the Camry were worth the cost of a brand-new car. The knee airbag, for instance, might make worlds of difference in a head-on collision. And, the Camry just joined the "perfect score" club in side-impact protection. I've seen people suffer from rather horrendous amounts of injuries caused by side-impact collisions, so this is IMPORTANT, people.

10. VSC. I haven't really had the chance to "experience" it, as far as I can tell, but it's an important part of the car's safety system. Not wrecking my car and not killing myself or maiming myself for life, or doing so to my passengers, is also important to me. I also am interested in seeing how this might help me get through the slick winter months -- this is my first car with such a system. Being able to drive safely in hazardous weather conditions is also a very good thing to have on your side.

Did I mention the styling?

My Camry is competent in every regard (styling, ride, fuel economy, handling, quietness, performance, safety equipment, audio/bluetooth, price).

No rattles, squeaks or misfit interior/exterior panels.

I have never considered a Camry in previous years as they reminded me of a bland taxi with a dangling exhaust pipe.

V6 power while good gas milage on Hwy I got 31.46 mpg! (of course only doing 64 mpg for 4 hrs)
Bluetooth is great!
JBL Sound sytem is OK, if you ar einto sound system you will see is not the best, but ok for Stock with no SUB got good bass.
Leg room.
Styling SE version
Safety

One thing I hate, the engine compartment is cramped on the V6!, no a lot of room to change alternator, belt, or anything... too bad for a DIY guy like me.

1) Fuel Mileage for a car of this size (but then again, I have a TCH )

2) Quality - haven't had any significant problems. I had the center console squeak, but I fixed that myself. You would expect to have some minor problems with a first-year model car, anyone expecting to have a "perfect" 07Camry is kidding themselves. I bet the 2008 model will have the various squeaks resolved. As long as I have no problems which I consider more than "annoying", I'll be happy with the quality.

3) Styling - the last generation Camry was BORING. I love the back-half of the 2007. The only part I could do without is the bubble nose. I think the SE looks awsome and I can't wait to get those ground effects to put on my TCH.

4) Audio - as someone else mentioned, this is the best factory stereo I've ever had in a car, and that includes my CaddySTS and Ford T-BirdSC both of which had powerful systems with subwoofers. While the MP3 and AUX are excellent features, they are pretty much standard with any stereo system nowadays. But the bluetooth is awsome, I love having a true hands-free cell phone without an annoying headset.

I pretty much like everything about my XLE.
No problem....yet.
The one thing I hate is a cannister oil filter on the BOTTOM of the car.
Most have cannister filters on top in the engine bay.

Try not to get overly paranoid. I have learned that more individuals post negative aspects over the positive aspects. In short, we all want perfection. I have also found annoying issues with the car, but just as stated previously all cars will have them.
