TX prices on the 2007 Camry

My wife and I went and TRIED to buy an "07 Camry LE 4cyl this Saturday. None of the dealers in the Austin area have many at all and are completely unwilling to deal. We found one that we liked at Classic in Round Rock. They wouldn't come off of MSRP at all. They also low-balled us on our trade by at least $1500. The manager flat told us that if we won't buy at MSRP someone else will. Sadly she's right. Can anyone in the Houston, Dallas, San Antonio areas tell me if any of the lots around there are any better? We really want one of these vehicles, but I'm not paying MSRP. Thanks in advance guys!

My two cents:

I don't know specifics in your area but I would use fitzmall.com prices ($400-500 over dealer invoice) as a lever when I contact all the dealers within 50 miles by email or fax. Contact the internet sales managers and ask for their best price on the exact vehicle (color, interior, options) that you want.

Sell your existing vehicle yourself.

Be prepared to go out of the SE Toyota area (maybe in conjunction with a vacation) to avoid their extra admin charges and useless mandatory add on options. More than one person from Texas has flown to the NE and driven a new Camry home that they could not get at any price in their home area.

You might also check the "Toyota Camry: Prices Paid & Buying Experience" on the edmunds forum.

Hope that helps.

Email a few dealers and play the negiotation game. I got one dealer to sell me an LE for $20,000 via email. I still thought that was high so went to another dealer and showed him the email and he gave to me for $19,600 plus my options and taxes and whatever.

I don't believe anyone is going to get a decent discount from a dealer now because of the popularity of the 2007 Camry, especially the SE. You may have to use the internet or some group buy to get a decent price on any 2007 Camry.

I was in Houston about a week ago working with one of the
dealers in the area... Actually Baytown. He was working a
deal with me on an XLE for less than sticker... Not as low as
I would have liked, but it was better than what others in the
area were offering. The dealer was Community Toyota. The
salesman was J.C. If you call him, tell him that the guy from Louisiana
looking for the XLE sent you... I will not receive any payment
for this lead, but he spent some time working on a deal, so
I feel a bit bad about not buying from him.

I ended up ordering one from a dealer here in Baton Rouge.
The dealer here is Team Toyota, and my salesman was
Chris Priebe. It was a very easy deal... We agreed (up front) on
a % over invoice, we worked the deal, and he met my trade value
which the other 2 dealers which I spoke with provided (which
seemed like a fair value). PM me if you want me to give you
his cell number to call.

I was looking for (and ordered) the XLE V6.

Hopefully this information is helpful.
